K-pop virtual idol group PLAVE has teamed up with Sanrio, the beloved Japanese entertainment company behind characters like Hello Kitty and My Melody, for a new single album called 'PLBBUU'. The six-member group, consisting of Yejun, Noah, Bamby, Eunho, Hamin, and their virtual counterparts dressed in Sanrio character outfits, released the album this past Monday as a gift to their fans.
The three-track album features 'BBUU!', previously released Japanese digital single "숨바꼭질 (Hide and Seek)", and Korean track "봉숭아 (Bongsoong-a)". All five members of PLAVE were involved in the production, writing, and composition of the tracks.
The music video for "BBUU!" showcases the Sanrio characters alongside chibi versions of the PLAVE members on a fantasy island where they go on rides, share tea, and dance together.
This collaboration marks a new milestone for PLAVE as the group has become the first virtual K-pop group to chart on Billboard's Global 200 with their third EP. Physical copies of the albums can be purchased at select retailers, while digital copies are available on streaming platforms.
