Lake County man charged with threatening to kill President Trump

A 57-year-old man from Lake County has been charged with making a threat against President Trump after posting a disturbing video on social media.

Trent Schneider's Instagram post was allegedly obtained by authorities through an anonymous tip, showing him announcing his intention to purchase firearms and personally taking care of the situation. He repeatedly referred to the president as "frauds" and used explicit language throughout the video.

According to a complaint filed with the court, Schneider expressed extreme dissatisfaction with Trump, stating he's tired of what he perceived as wrongdoings by those in power. The resident who initially reported the post is from Florida.

Schneider was ordered detained during his Monday court appearance on charges of "making a threat in interstate commerce to injure a person."

this guy sounds super unhinged what's going on with our society that someone can just threaten a president and not get more than a slap on the wrist i mean, we gotta take threats seriously but at the same time, isn't there like a better way to deal with people who are this upset? maybe some kinda counseling or something? instead of throwing them in detention it's all just so frustrating and what's with the anonymous tip from Florida can't we have a more open conversation about these issues?

this guy thinks it's cool to threaten someone just 'cause he doesn't like their politics... newsflash, dude: that's not freedom of speech, that's a cry for help. I mean, who posts a video about taking care of the situation in public? That's not just threatening, that's begging for attention. And now he's going to sit in jail while his family and friends are worried sick... poor guy needs some therapy, not a cell

This is getting crazy. Someone's gotta ask, what's gonna happen to this guy? Detention's not exactly the same as prison time, so I guess that's a step up from just being let off with a warning. You'd think if he was really that fed up, he'd just try to make some change through peaceful means, you know? But I guess that's just easier said than done when you're feeling that angry and helpless. The thing is, threats like this can snowball pretty quickly... does the government ever think about how those kind of posts can affect people on all sides of the aisle? Anyway, it's gonna be interesting to see what happens next with this guy...
