Lauren Price, the Welsh boxer who has dominated her opponents to become a unified welterweight world champion, will put her titles on the line against Puerto Rican challenger Stephanie Pineiro Aquino in an exciting bout set to take place at Cardiff's Utilita Arena in April.
Price, 31, has not fought since adding the WBC and IBF belts to her WBA crown with a dominant points win over Natasha Jonas in London last March. Her victory will be broadcast live on BBC Two for the first time.
"Defending my world titles at home in Wales means everything to me. I want to repay the support everyone has shown me with another great performance," Price said. She is confident of retaining her belts, saying "I never turn down a challenge. Stephanie Pineiro Aquino is a dangerous fighter, but nothing is going to stop me from getting my hand raised on April 4 in Cardiff. Yma o hyd."
Aquino, 35, will be stepping out of her comfort zone as she travels to Wales for the first time and faces off against the current champion. Despite being unbeaten in 10 professional fights, Aquino has never competed outside Puerto Rico.
The bout promises to be an exciting clash between two skilled boxers. A win would set Price up for a push towards becoming the undisputed champion of the welterweight division, a goal she said she expected to achieve by the end of last year after beating Jonas.
Boxing fans will also get to watch another high-stakes fight on BBC Two as Francesca Hennessy headlines against Ellie Bouttell in a world-title eliminator.
