Lionsgate Sells Streaming Platform Lionsgate Play in India, Southeast Asia to Founder Rohit Jain

Lionsgate has handed over its streaming service in South Asia and Southeast Asia, Lionsgate Play, to founding executive Rohit Jain. The platform is now owned by Jain, who was instrumental in building the service during his eight-year tenure as president of Lionsgate Play Asia.

Under the deal, Jain will have a multi-year licensing agreement that grants him access to use the Lionsgate Play branding and draw from the studio's content catalog for the streaming platform. In return, Lionsgate retains its theatrical distribution and television production operations across the two regions.

Lionsgate Play currently operates in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, and the Maldives, with a focus on utilizing partnerships with telecommunications providers to distribute content through long-term agreements. The platform has gained significant traction in India, where it is integrated into various aggregators such as JioHotstar and Amazon Prime Video Channels.

Jain's leadership has been praised by Lionsgate COO Brian Goldsmith, who credited the executive with building a strong brand presence in South Asia and Southeast Asia. "Rohit is an entrepreneur with a deep understanding of the Asia landscape, and he has the expertise and experience to lead Lionsgate Play into an exciting new phase of growth," said Goldsmith.

Jain expressed his gratitude to Jon Feltheimer and Brian Goldsmith for giving him the opportunity to develop Lionsgate's India business. He believes that Lionsgate Play is poised to expand beyond its current offerings and become a leading destination for Hollywood content in the region.

So Lionsgate is handing over their streaming service to this Rohit Jain dude, who's been running it for 8 years and does seem pretty good at it πŸ€”. I mean, they're keeping their movie theater and TV show production gigs, but letting him handle the streaming thing. That makes sense, cuz he knows the Asia market pretty well. He's already got some big partnerships with telecom companies to get content out there. In India, his platform is getting integrated with other popular services like JioHotstar... that's gotta be a big help! Jain thinks it's gonna get way bigger and more popular, and I can see why - he's got the passion for it and knows what people want. πŸ“Ί

omg u guys, so lionsgate just sold its streaming service in south asia & southeast asia to this dude rohit jain 🀯 i feel like he's been with the platform for ages tho 8 years or something? anyway, it's kinda cool that he gets to keep using the lionsgate play name and access their content catalog, but like what about the rest of us in india who already have it through other platforms? πŸ€” still, i guess it's not all bad since jain seems pretty confident about expanding lionsgate play beyond its current stuff πŸ’ͺ

🀯 just heard about this, so Rohit Jain takes over lionsgate play, thats gonna be interesting, they had some good deals with telco's, i guess now they'll focus on original content, fingers crossed it grows even more, india was a bit of a wild card for them but i think jain will make it work 🀞

OMG, can you believe it?! 🀯 Lionsgate just handed over its streaming service in SA & SE Asia to Rohit Jain! 😱 I'm loving the move, tbh. The dude built that platform from scratch in 8 years and now he gets to run with it? πŸ’ͺ That's what I call a win-win! 😊 I mean, Liongate is getting out of the streaming game and retaining its theatrical distribution & TV production ops - not bad, right? πŸ‘ Meanwhile, Jain is gonna take Lionsgate Play to new heights in India and beyond 🌏. I'm curious to see what kind of content he'll bring to the table next... maybe some Bollywood originals? πŸŽ₯ Fingers crossed! πŸ’¬

Wow, can u believe Rohit Jain just took over Lionsgate Play in South Asia & Southeast Asia? 🀯 Interesting how he went from being president of the platform to owning it after 8 yrs! 😲 The man's got game, and I'm hyped to see what he does next with the platform. πŸ’₯

so Lionsgate is handing over their streaming service in South Asia & Southeast Asia to Rohit Jain, who basically built it from scratch 🀝. It's crazy to think about how far he's come, especially since he's only 8 years into his role 😲. I mean, the platform has already gained traction in India, which is a huge deal, and now he gets to keep using the Lionsgate branding and access to their content catalog πŸŽ₯. It's definitely an exciting time for Jain and Lionsgate Play, but it'll be interesting to see how they expand and grow from here πŸ’Έ. The fact that Lionsgate is keeping their theatrical distribution & TV production ops in the region keeps things balanced out, so fingers crossed for Jain to make some magic happen 🀞

πŸ€” i mean, it's good to see Rohit Jain taking over lionsgate play in south asia & southeast asia... he's been with the platform for 8 yrs so he knows what works. but, on one hand, it's cool that jain gets to use the lionsgate branding & access their content catalog... on the other hand, i wonder how he'll make the platform stand out from all the other streaming services already out there πŸ“Ί in india alone, we have hotstar, amazon prime video, and others... it's gonna be tough for him to gain traction. maybe jain can focus on building those partnerships with telcos & making some new deals? πŸ€‘ also, it'll be interesting to see how he expands the platform beyond just hollywood content... will he cater to local audiences more? only time will tell 😊

I'm telling you, this is just a clever move by Lionsgate to let someone with ties to the Indian market run their streaming service... Jain's got connections, no doubt about it πŸ€‘ But what's really going on here? Are they trying to get closer to the Asian market and tap into the growing demand for streaming services? I think there's more to this story than just a simple handover of a platform. What if Jain is using his influence to shape the content offerings to cater specifically to Indian tastes? It's all about the money, folks... 😏

idk wut l ol about lionsgate play tho πŸ˜‚ they just handed it over to rohit jain and now he's gonna run w/ it πŸš€ sounds like rohit knows his stuff cuz he built it up from nothin during his 8 yr stint as president 😎 anyway i think its cool that leo retards are stepping out of their comfort zones and tryin new things πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ jain seems legit tho πŸ‘

I'm so down for this new development 😎! It's dope to see Rohit Jain taking the reins of Lionsgate Play, especially after all the hard work he put in building that service during his time as president. The fact that he gets a multi-year deal with the Lion's branding and access to their content catalog is a major win for him. I mean, who wouldn't want to be in charge of bringing Hollywood goodness to India and Southeast Asia? πŸ›πŸ‘‘ But what's also interesting is how Lionsgate gets to retain its theatrical distribution and TV production ops while Jain takes the reins on streaming. It's like they're playing a strategic game of chess over there 😏. I'm curious to see what kind of new moves Jain makes with the platform, especially if he can build it into that leading destination for Hollywood content in the region. Fingers crossed! 🀞

🀯 just thinking about it, rohit jain taking over lionsgate play is like a breath of fresh air, someone who actually knows the asian market 🌊. i mean, lionsgate has been kinda slow to adapt to this streaming game, but now with jain at the helm, fingers crossed they'll bring some real value to these markets πŸ‘. and can we talk about how awesome it is that he's integrating with local aggregators? that's the kind of partnerships that actually make a difference πŸ“ˆ

Wow 🀯, can you believe someone's taking over Lionsgate Play? Interesting πŸ’‘, I'm guessing Rohit Jain knows his stuff since Brian Goldsmith is hyping him up so much πŸ˜‚. Anyway, Lionsgate Play seems to be doing alright in South Asia and Southeast Asia, especially with its partnerships with telcos πŸ“±. Now we'll see how Rohit Jain's gonna take it to the next level πŸš€!

So Lionsgate just handed over their streaming service to this Rohit Jain dude, who was basically running it for 8 years... πŸ€” Not sure if it's good or bad that he gets to keep the branding, but I guess it's a win for him since he built it from scratch. Jain's got some big plans too, wants Lionsgate Play to become like a go-to spot for Hollywood content in Asia... πŸ“Ί He's already making waves in India with its partnerships and stuff. Not sure how this'll affect the other streaming services, but I'm hoping it brings more options for us viewers! πŸ’»

Wow 🀩, this is crazy! Rohit Jain taking over Lionsgate Play is huge news πŸ“Ί. It's interesting how he built the service from scratch and now gets to lead it into new growth phases πŸš€. I'm curious to see what kind of new content he'll bring in for the region 😁. Jain seems like a smart entrepreneur, and with his experience in Asia, he might be able to tap into some hidden markets πŸ’Έ. This could get really interesting for fans of Hollywood movies in South Asia πŸ”₯!

I'm so excited about this news 🀩! Rohit Jain taking over Lionsgate Play is like, super good for South Asia and Southeast Asia, you know? I mean, he's been instrumental in building the platform during his eight-year stint as president, so it makes sense that he'd want to own it now. The fact that he's gonna keep using the Lionsgate branding and having access to their content catalog is a big win for the region! πŸ’Έ

I'm also loving how Jain is all about partnerships with telecom providers to distribute content - it sounds like a solid strategy to reach more people in India, where the platform has already gained some traction. JioHotstar and Amazon Prime Video Channels integrating Lionsgate Play is a great move, btw 🀝.

Brian Goldsmith saying that Rohit's got the expertise and experience to lead Lionsgate Play into growth mode is like, so reassuring 😊. And Jain's all about expanding beyond what they're doing now - I'm here for it! More Hollywood content in South Asia? Yes, please! 🎬

πŸ―πŸ’» I think this is a pretty smart move by Lionsgate, handing over control of their streaming service to Rohit Jain. Guy's been with the company for ages and knows what works in South Asia and Southeast Asia, so it's only natural he gets to lead the ship now πŸš£β€β™‚οΈ. Plus, it's good to see someone who's actually lived in those regions getting a shot at running their own thing - can't say that about every exec πŸ€”. Now, I'm curious to see how Lionsgate Play will shake things up and become a go-to spot for Hollywood content in the region πŸŽ₯πŸ‘€
