According to Tom Shanley, MD, President and CEO of Lurie Children's, the hospital will offer an array of specialized services, including a pediatric emergency department, surgery suites, inpatient beds, and key pediatric sub-specialties such as oncology, cardiology, gastroenterology, and orthopedics. The new facility is part of the organization's broader strategy to expand access to its high-quality care across communities.
"We are committed to engaging the community and shaping this facility around their needs," Shanley emphasized. "This new hospital will allow us to deliver our signature level of care in a setting that is more convenient, closer to home, and designed with the input of local families."
The announcement follows Lurie Children's recent expansion into Schaumburg with the opening of a new outpatient center last year. The organization has a long history of providing medical services at multiple locations throughout the Chicago area, including its main hospital in downtown Chicago and over 20 outpatient centers.
