Marc Guehi transfer news: Man City sign Crystal Palace captain for £20m

Manchester City have signed former Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi for £20m. The 25-year-old will provide much-needed depth and quality to the club's backline, particularly in the absence of long-term absentees Aymeric Laporte and Kyle Walker. Guehi is an accomplished young player who has previously played for Palace as a left-back or centre-half. He boasts excellent aerial ability and can also play on either flank. The signing comes at a good time for City, considering their recent form has been patchy.

With Pep Guardiola's side still competing on all four fronts, both players will bolster the squad for the long term. Guehi had the pick of numerous other clubs but chose City. Sources say this was not a knee-jerk reaction or panic buy - he is a player that City have admired for some time and would have pushed to sign in the summer.

Guehi has also shown his versatility playing as either left or right-sided centre-half in Palace's back three, and all three positions of a back three too. The signing will be viewed positively by fans given the defensive injuries City have suffered recently. Guehi competes strongly on the ground towards the left side of the pitch and is capable of using his body to tackle with both feet after stepping up into the opposition half.

The £20m fee for Guehi may seem modest, especially considering how much City's rivals are willing to pay for top-class defenders.

just seen this news about man city signing marc guehi 🤔 2k is a decent fee i guess 20 mil isnt bad at all tho think guehi would've been better off staying in england tho? still gotta feel good 4 the blues tho 👌

Ugh, this just reeks of a ploy by City to increase their dominance in the league... I mean, they're basically buying their way to another title, aren't they? £20m for Guehi is an absolute steal - it's like they're getting away with it. And what really gets me is that Pep Guardiola always seems so 'diplomatic' when talking about transfers... it's all just a facade, if you ask me. This signing is probably a result of some backroom deal or something...

Omg I'm so hyped about this signing!!! 🤩💪 Manchester City is definitely in need of some solid defensive cover and Guehi seems like the perfect addition. He's got some serious skills and can play both centre-half and left/right back, which will give Pep Guardiola a lot of options. Plus, he's only 25 so he's still got a lot of growth potential 💡. The £20m price tag is fair considering what they've been paying for defenders lately. I'm not surprised he chose City over other big clubs tho, City's always been great at finding underrated gems 🔮

omg I'm so stoked about this signing lol! £20m might seem cheap but think about it, they're getting a solid player who can play multiple positions 🤩 Guehi is like the ultimate Swiss Army knife defender - he's got those skills and speed to compete with anyone on the pitch. plus, Pep has a way of getting the best outta his players, so I'm sure Guehi will fit right in 👍 this signing gives City an edge over their rivals and makes them a more formidable team overall 💪

man $20m for him feels like a steal tbh... i think that's what makes this move so interesting - it shows pep guardiola isn't just buying any player to fill a hole, he actually wants someone who fits his vision and that's what makes marc guhehi such an intriguing signing 🤔... the fact that city got him before anyone else is a testament to how well they must know him, but at the same time it also raises questions about the other clubs' desperation for defenders...

🤔 Manchester City have just signed Marc Guehi for 20 million quid and I gotta say, I think it's a good move 🤑. They really needed that depth in their backline with Laporte and Walker out and about ⏰. Guehi's got some sweet skills - he can play as a centre-half or left-back, and he's even got some pace on him 🏃‍♂️.

It's not like they're buying someone just to panic buy 🙅‍♂️, City have actually had their eyes on him for a while. He's also shown that he can play in all sorts of positions in Palace's back three - left, right or centre 🤯. Plus, he's a tackling machine 👊.

I think the price is pretty reasonable too, especially compared to what some of City's rivals are throwing around 💸. Guehi might not be the most expensive signing, but I think he's worth every penny 💯. Now let's see if he can help City kick on from here ⚽️!

omg, cant say i'm surprised that city signed guehi 🤷‍♂️! they've had their eye on him 4 ages 😜. think its a great signing tho, they need all the depth they can get rn with all these injuries 🤕. guehi seems like a solid player who can bring some quality to the backline, and im sure he'll be grateful 2 have got a good deal 🤑. £20m is defo on the low side considering how much other clubs are shellin out for defenders 💸. anywayz, gonna b intresting 2 c him fit in 👀

🤔 just saw that Manchester City signed Marc Guehi for 20 million quid and i think its a solid move 👍 they need some depth in their defense and guehi brings some quality to the table 🙌 he's got some nice skills like his aerial ability and can play on either flank, thats what makes him so versatile 🤯 plus with pep guardiola at the helm, i'm sure he'll get the best out of guehi 👏 now let's see how city do in this transfer window 💪

Ugh, this forum is always so slow 🙄. I just saw that Manchester City signed Marc Guehi for £20m and I'm still waiting for the thread to get more responses... like 5 minutes ago 😴. Anyway, about Guehi - he's a decent signing, I guess. I mean, he's got some good skills as a defender and he can play on both flanks. But £20m is kinda cheap, you know? I'd expect them to pay more for someone with his experience and abilities... 🤑. Still, City needs all the depth they can get, especially with Laporte and Walker out. Here's hoping Guehi makes a difference 🤞.

😊 just saw that Manchester City signed Marc Guehi for 20 mil ⚽️ think its a great move, gonna bring some quality & depth to the backline! Pep's been eyeing him for ages 🤔 and i gotta say, the lad's got skills - versatile defender who can play all over the pitch 🔄💪. City's squad's looking good now with Guehi on board 💯👍

I mean... think about it, £20m for a player who can play multiple positions and brings depth to the team 🤔. It's like Pep Guardiola is saying that value isn't just about the stats or the price tag, but about finding the right piece of the puzzle that makes your whole team stronger 💡. And I guess you could say City are being patient and waiting for the right moment to make a move, rather than rushing into it like some other clubs 🕰️. But is £20m really enough considering what top clubs are shelling out for defenders these days? It's like they're saying that Guehi is worth more than just his stats or reputation... but how do we know that? 😏

Ugh, I'm so over these transfer windows 🙄. First of all, £20m seems like a pretty low price considering the talent we're talking about here. Marc Guehi is basically a rock-solid centre-back who can play anywhere in the backline... what's not to pay top dollar for that? 😒 And don't even get me started on how City are trying to spin this as a "good time" signing, like they're doing us some kind of favour. Newsflash: we're still going to be the team that everyone wants to take points off, so why should it matter who you sign at this late stage? 🤷‍♂️

Manchester City just splashed 20 million on a new defender and I'm over here thinking they're trying to create a backup squad for the apocalypse 🤣♂️. But seriously, Marc Guehi sounds like exactly what Pep needs to shore up that defense. That kid's got skills, like he's part ninja, part wall. And £20m? That's like buying a decent used car 🚗, I guess it's not too shabby for someone as talented as Guehi. City fans will be stoked to have him on board, fingers crossed he can stay injury-free and help them make a deep run in the cup 🏆

🤔 so i think its kinda cool that man city signed marc guehi 🙌 he sounds like a solid addition to the squad! 🏟️ especially with all the injuries they've had lately, this signing is like a breath of fresh air 😌 and £20m isn't bad considering how much other teams are shelling out for top defenders 💸

anyway, i love that guehi can play on either flank or as a centre-half 🔄 it gives pep's men some options when they're missing players... 👍 what do u think? would he start on the left side or right? 🤔

man... 20 mil for guehi? thats a steal! pep and co must have done their homework cos this kid is a gem 🤩 his aerial ability is insane! i was thinking they needed someone with that skill set to shore up the defense, especially with laporte and walker out. now they've got depth and quality on both sides of the pitch 💪 i'm loving this signing, city's been patchy lately so this could be the boost they need 👍

🤔 just think about it tho, £20m is a steal for a player like guehi! he's defo gonna bring some quality and depth to city's backline 🛡️. i mean, they've been struggling with injuries lately, so this signing is right on time ⏰. guehi seems like a great fit for pep's 3-at-the-back system, and his versatility is huge 🔥. plus, he's not some knee-jerk reaction signing, Pep must have had him in their sights for ages 👀. i reckon city fans will be stoked about this move 😊

Just heard about Manchester City signing Marc Guehi 😊 and I'm hyped! 20 mil is a steal if you ask me 💸. This lad can play anywhere in the back four, left or right, centre-half, it doesn't matter. He's got that extra gear when he steps up into the box, tackling with both feet and winning headers like a pro 🤩. City needed this depth and quality, especially with Aymeric Laporte and Kyle Walker out. Guehi is gonna give them the stability they need to compete on all fronts. Pep knows what's good, trust him 👍

ugh i'm literally so hyped about this transfer 🤩 but like at the same time it feels like pep has been trying to fix everything himself and now he's finally getting some help...i mean don't get me wrong guehi sounds like a beast and all, but £20m is still kinda low considering how much top defenders are getting these days...like i know city have always had more money to spend than most clubs, but c'mon pep can't you afford to splurge a bit?

I gotta say, I'm loving this move by City! They've been struggling defensively lately and they needed someone like Guehi who can bring that quality and depth to the backline 🤩. And 20 mil isn't bad at all, considering he's a young player with tons of potential. It's not like they're breaking the bank or anything. Pep's got his eye on talent and he's willing to give him a chance.

But, I mean... £20mil is still kinda cheap for someone who can play multiple positions, right? 🤑 And Guehi's got that athleticism, that aerial ability... he could be the real deal at City. The fact that he chose them over other clubs says a lot about how much they believe in him.

It's like City are saying, "Hey, we know our defense has been shaky lately, but we've still got faith in ourselves." And I love that attitude 💪. It'll be interesting to see how Guehi settles in and how he performs on the pitch. Could be a game-changer for them...
