Meet Hamza Al-Rubaie, one of Gaza’s 17,000 orphaned children

In the ravaged streets of Gaza City, 10-year-old Hamza Al-Rubaie's world was shattered when both his parents were killed in Israel's devastating assault on the territory. What makes this young boy's story even more heartbreaking is that he lost not only his parents but also three siblings, leaving him to be raised by an aunt. With a population of 17,000 orphaned children, Gaza has become one of the largest collections of homeless kids worldwide.

Hamza's life became unrecognizable after that fateful day, as he struggled to come to terms with the loss of his loved ones and find solace in a war-torn world. However, Hamza's story is far from bleak – it serves as a testament to the resilience of Gaza's youth who have had to grow up too quickly.

With no parents to care for him, Hamza was forced to rely on the kindness of strangers, including his aunt, who took on the responsibility of raising him. Despite facing numerous challenges, Hamza's aunt has been instrumental in providing him with a sense of belonging and stability.

As Al Jazeera reports, Gaza's orphan crisis is a symptom of a much larger issue – one that highlights the devastating consequences of conflict on civilians, particularly children. In a world where young lives are often lost or forever changed by war, Hamza's story stands as a poignant reminder of the human cost of violence and the need for continued support for these vulnerable individuals.

With his story echoing through the streets of Gaza City, 10-year-old Hamza Al-Rubaie continues to navigate the complexities of growing up without parents. Yet, in the face of adversity, he remains a beacon of hope – a testament to the strength and resilience that defines this young boy and his fellow Gazan orphans.

This news story breaks my heart 😔... I mean, can you even imagine losing your whole family like that? It's just unimaginable. 🤯 But at the same time, it's inspiring to see a kid as young as 10 taking care of himself and his siblings like that. His aunt is doing an amazing job raising him too! 👏 I think we need to do more to help these kids and their families in Gaza... they're already going through so much. We can't just sit back and expect them to be okay when all this violence is happening around them. 🤝 It's time for us to step up and offer some support, you know? 🤗

This is so sad it's unbelievable 🤕 My heart goes out to Hamza and all those other kids who've lost their parents in the fighting. It's not fair that they have to grow up too fast because of some grown-ups making bad decisions. I wish there was a way to make everything okay again, but at least we know about it now so maybe people can start paying attention 🤝

I don’t usually comment but I just wanna say that seeing Hamza's story is really heartbreaking 🤕😔. 17,000 orphaned kids in Gaza, can you even imagine? It's like a nightmare come true. And to see this little boy who lost his whole family, only to be raised by an aunt... it's just too much 😭.

I don't know how many times I'd have to read about war and its effects on civilians before I get tired of seeing the same sad story over and over. But Hamza's story is different, you feel? He might not have parents, but he still has hope 🌟. And that's what makes his story so inspiring.

I think we need to do more to help these kids. Like, seriously more 💸. We're always talking about peace and unity, but when it comes down to it, we don't always take action 🤷‍♂️. I hope Hamza's story will be a wake-up call for us all, and that we'll finally start doing something to help these kids out 👏.

omg u cannt even imagine wut dis kid goes thru 🤕 hamza's story is literally heartbreaking 2 b told - losin both parents & siblings in israel's assualt is 1 thing but havin 2 grow up 2 fast n rely on strangers 4 survival is 2 much 4 a 10 yr old boy 2 handle n then u got dis massiv population of orphaned kids in gaza 17k+ ppl - thatz alot 🤯

😔🤕 it's just so heartbreaking to think about Hamza's life after what happened... like how can one kid even deal with losing three siblings too? 🤯 and now he's got to grow up way too fast without parents, it's just not fair 🙅‍♂️. but at the same time, his story is also super inspiring because he's still holding on and finding strength in himself 🌟. and that's what I think we need more of - people who can rise above all this negativity and just be hopeful for a better tomorrow 💪.

omg u cant even imagine wut its like 2 b 10 yrs old & hav ur whole fam dy killed 🤯🌪️... hamza's story is so sad, but at th same time, its also kinda inspirin 2 see how he & his aunt r managin 2 cope w/ this harsh reality. its not all bad tho, cuz in a way, hes grown up way too fast & now hes got a sense of purpose... i think we need 2 do more 2 help these kids, especially the ones whos parents rnt even born yet 🤝💕

I mean think about it, Gaza's situation is like a microcosm of what's happening globally – the vulnerability of civilians, especially kids, in conflict zones is just heartbreaking 💔. And it raises so many questions about our collective responsibility to protect these innocent lives. Shouldn't we be doing more to prevent such devastating losses and support the affected families? I'm not saying that one side is entirely at fault here, but we can't just sit back and watch as children are forced to grow up way too fast 😕. It's like, what kind of world do we want to live in if our own kids have to face such trauma? We need to have some serious conversations about peace, diplomacy, and the humanitarian aid that's needed here 🤝🌎

.. just reading about Hamza's story is like hitting you right in the gut 💔... I mean, can you even imagine losing your parents and having to grow up overnight? It's like, what does it even mean to be a kid when you've got all this weight on your shoulders? 🤯 But at the same time, I'm also thinking about how Hamza's story is like, this crazy paradox... he's got an aunt who's trying to raise him, but she can't be his mom... and Gaza as a whole has lost so many of its kids... it's just like, what are we even doing? 🤷‍♀️ We're constantly talking about how we need to find peace and end conflicts, but at the same time, there are these tiny humans who are just trying to survive... it's heartbreaking 💔... I guess that's why Hamza's story is so important – it shows us that even in the darkest times, there's always a glimmer of hope...

🤕 You feel so bad for Hamza, that's just heartbreaking 😔... 17,000 orphaned kids? That's crazy! 🤯 It's no wonder Gaza City looks like a war zone - the thought of all these kids having to grow up too fast is devastating 🌪️. His aunt has been super supportive though 💕, but it's not fair that Hamza had to go through this in the first place 😢. It just highlights how brutal conflict can be on civilians, especially kids 🙅‍♂️. We need more support for these orphans & their families ASAP 🤝!

Man... this kid's story is like something outta a movie 🎥. Losing both parents and three siblings? That's just devastating. I mean, can you even imagine having to grow up without parents? It's like, what even is family at that point? 😔 And with all the others in Gaza City going through the same thing... 17,000 kids orphaned? That's just insane 💀. I feel bad for Hamza and his aunt though. She sounds like a total hero taking on this responsibility alone 🙏. It's just sad that he had to go through all this at such a young age 😢. You'd think people would be more careful with their actions, you know? No one deserves to suffer like this 💔.

man, it's just heartbreaking what's happening to these kids in Gaza 😔... 17k orphaned and they're all fighting for survival... it's like, what's the point of war if you're gonna leave innocent kids to suffer? 🤕 Hamza's story is so brave, though - he's had to grow up way too fast, but his aunt has been there for him, giving him a sense of home and family ❤️. We gotta do more to support these kids, 'cause it's not just about them, it's about the future of humanity 🌎... we can't just sit back and watch as these young lives are destroyed by conflict 💔.

🤕 ugh, it's just so heartbreaking to see 10-year-old Hamza having to grow up too fast after losing both parents & 3 siblings in Israel's assault 🌪️... but at the same time, his story also shows us that even in the midst of war & destruction, there are still people who care ❤️. His aunt is literally a guardian angel to him now 💕 & it's so inspiring to see her taking on this responsibility. but let's not sugarcoat it - Gaza's orphan crisis is a HUGE issue 🤯... 17,000 kids are affected by the war, that's just unacceptable 😔. we need to keep raising awareness & funds to support these kids & make sure they get the help they deserve 💸

Man, it's just heartbreaking what these kids are going through 🤕. I mean, can you imagine losing your parents at 10? It's like, you're already dealing with so much drama in life, and then you've got to lose the people who were supposed to take care of you? And on top of that, it's a war zone... what's there to feel hopeful about? 🤔 But I guess that's the thing - hope. These kids are still holding on, even when everything seems lost. It's like they're saying, "You know what? I may not have my family, but I've got each other." And that's something to be admired, you know? 💕 It's just... it makes me want to do more to help these kids out 🤗. We need to start supporting them in a bigger way, you feel me?

I know people say Gaza is a war zone, but it's not all doom and gloom 💔. I mean, Hamza's story is heartbreaking, but he's still got an aunt looking out for him, right? That takes a lot of courage & love 🤗. It's easy to write off Gazans as victims, but they're survivors. They've been through some shit, but they're not defined by it. I think we need to give them more credit for their strength in the face of adversity 💪.

this is just heartbreaking, imagine having to grow up without any family and having to live on kindness from strangers 🤕💔. it's like, what can we do to help these kids? we need more support and resources to take care of them. I'm so glad his aunt has been there for him, but it's not fair that he had to go through this in the first place. war should never affect innocent lives like this 🤷‍♂️😢

I'm really sad reading about little Hamza's story... 🤕 17,000 orphaned kids in Gaza is just heartbreaking. I can only imagine how hard it must be for him & his aunt to raise him alone 🙏. It's not just Hamza, there are so many more Gazan kids who have lost loved ones to war. We really need to do something about this 🌎. As a 10-year-old boy, he should be playing with friends, going to school, but instead he's facing so much grief & hardship 😔. I wish people could see the human side of conflict & try to help these kids more... they deserve our support & kindness ❤️.
