Malcolm X College made headlines after defeating Gilbert Higley, Ariz., 92-70 in the Malcolm X College Tournament. However, other results were less favorable to home teams. Golder's team fell to Clemente with a score of 70-72 in Barreto Boys and Girls Club action.

The day's scores also featured several upsets. South Beloit was defeated by Richmond-Burton 50-51 in the South Beloit conference, while Johnsburg lost to Rockford Lutheran 56-60.

In the final tally, St. Louis Cardinal Ritter came from behind to defeat Hyde Park 49-52 in Missouri high school basketball.
