Nepal fall agonisingly short of shocking England at T20 World Cup

Nepal's Late Surge Falls Short Against Dominant England in T20 World Cup

In a thrilling and heart-wrenching finish, Nepal narrowly missed out on a major upset against two-time champions England in their Group C match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Nepalese team had staged an impressive comeback, but ultimately succumbed to England's superior depth and consistency.

The turning point of the game came when Lokesh Bam, playing a career-best innings with 39 runs off just 20 balls, single-handedly turned the match on its head for Nepal. His heroics were not enough to propel his team over the line, however. Despite Bam's valiant efforts, Nepal ultimately finished with a score of 180-6, handing England a nervy win.

The English team, led by captain Harry Brook and teammate Jacob Bethell, had seemed in control after they powered past 180 runs with their top-order batters firing on all cylinders. However, the Nepalese middle order, anchored by star all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee and captain Rohit Paudel, staged a remarkable recovery to put Nepal back into contention.

The match was marred by controversy when Sher Malla struck with the first ball of England's innings, dismissing Phil Salt for one and setting the tone for the rest of the game. The pressure mounted on England after Jos Buttler and Tom Banton fell in quick succession, leaving them reeling at 57-3.

In a remarkable display of resilience, Bethell and Brook combined to rebuild their innings with a 71-run partnership during their 45-ball collaboration. Airee and Paudel added another 82 runs from 54 balls, keeping Nepal very much in the hunt.

However, it was Bam's late surge that had given Nepal the hope of pulling off an upset. With his team needing just 10 runs to seal the win, Bam needed a six off the final ball to propel them across the line. Unfortunately for him and his teammates, England's seamers, led by Sam Curran, were too accurate, and Bam could only manage one run from the last ball.

The match was a testament to Nepal's growing strength as a team, but ultimately fell short against the dominant English side.

πŸ€” So they're saying that all of a sudden, England is just way better than everyone else in cricket? 180 runs is not even a big score for them, and it was basically a two-man show with Bam's heroics. I'm not buying it. Nepal had some good players too, like Airee and Paudel, but where were the rest of their team? They just kinda... disappeared?

And what's up with this controversy about Sher Malla hitting Salt out? That's just a ball, right? It seems like they're making more out of it than there is. And 10 runs to win off 1 ball? That's not an upset, that's just math.

I'd love to see some stats on how good England was in this game, compared to Nepal. Was the rest of their team even playing? I'm not convinced that this match proves anything other than Nepal had a single player who was really, really good.

πŸ€” I'm so disappointed for the Nepalese team πŸ‡³πŸ‡΅, they played so well and gave England a run for their money 😬. Lokesh Bam's innings was insane πŸ”₯, he really took the game to England and made us all believe Nepal could pull off an upset πŸ’ͺ. The way Nepal bounced back from 57-3 was incredible πŸ™Œ, it showed that they've got depth and talent. But, of course, you can't beat a top-level team like England consistently πŸ‘Š. They just showed why they're the champions πŸ†. I'm still optimistic about Nepal's future though 🀞, with players like Airee and Paudel leading the way πŸ”, maybe next time they'll be able to take down the big boys πŸ’₯! 😊

omg i cant even believe wat just happened!! lol nepal's comeback wuz SO inspiring!!! bam's 39 off 20 balls wuz insane!!! i feel bad for him tho he gave it his all and still didnt get the win πŸ€”πŸ† but congrats to england on thier win they deservit it πŸ‘. its clear that nepal's got the skillz now but england's depth is just too much πŸ’ͺ. can u believe nepal was only 10 runs away from thier first t20 world cup win tho?!?! 😱

omg u gotta feel 4 nepal lol they had such a great run & it wud hv b awesome if they pulled off that upset 🀩 their batting line up is gettin so much better & its defo givin them hope 4 the future 🌟 the way bam played was insane btw single-handedly turnin the match around like dat is pure skill πŸ’₯ and i feel bad 4 england too cos they played so well but it wud hv b a major upset if nepal won 😊

I'm loving how far Nepalese cricket has come! That Lokesh Bam is a total game-changer 🀯 and I'm so stoked for him, he played like a boss out there πŸ’ͺ. 180-6 might not be enough to beat England but it's still a huge achievement for the team, especially considering how much they were up against. The way Airee and Paudel batted in the middle order was insane 🀯 I mean who needs that many runs from just 54 balls? It was a real nail-biter of a match and I'm so glad I got to watch it πŸ˜…. England might have come out on top but Nepal's future looks super bright πŸ’«

I'm lovin' the way Nepal's cricket team is killin' it in the T20 World Cup! 😍 I mean, that comeback by Lokesh Bam was INSANE! 39 runs off just 20 balls? That's like something out of a movie, fam! 🀯 But, you know, sometimes you gotta tip your hat to the other team. England played some top-notch cricket and deserved that win.

But, for real, Nepal is makin' some waves in the cricket world and I'm here for it! πŸ’₯ They're showin' everyone what they're made of and it's dope to see. And let's give a shoutout to Dipendra Singh Airee and Rohit Paudel - those guys are like the dynamic duo of Nepal's middle order! πŸ‘Š

Anyway, I'm still hyped about that match and can't wait to see what Nepal brings next. Maybe they'll pull off another upset? πŸ€”

ugh that was such an emotional game for nepal fans πŸ€•...i feel so bad for lokesh bam he really went all out there and gave it his all, 39 runs off 20 balls is insane! 🀯 i know england's team was strong but you've gotta give credit to dipendra singh airee and rohit paudel too, they held the fort together and kept nepal in the game πŸ‘. anyway, even though it didn't work out for them this time around, it's clear that nepal is on the rise and i'm hyped to see what the rest of the tournament brings 🀩.

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I mean, what can you say about a team that's supposed to be underdogs and still manages to pull off some crazy comebacks? Like, Bam's 39 runs off 20 balls is insane! 🀯 He literally turned the game on its head for Nepal. But, at the end of the day, it just wasn't enough. England's depth was too much for them to handle. It's like, you gotta respect their consistency and skill, but at the same time, it's heartbreaking to see a team fall short in such a thrilling match. πŸ€” I'm gonna have to give Nepal some props for putting up such a good fight, though! πŸ‘

omg i cant even right now lol nepal played soooo well but england just got too much for them i mean bam's 39 off 20 balls is insane but you cant just rely on one person to turn the game around like what if he got bowled out or somethin? and also sher malla striking first ball is like the best thing ever lol but yeah england was just too strong in the end i'm so impressed by nepal's comeback tho, they def deserve more recognition than this 🀯🏏

ugh i'm totally with england all the way they're like the ultimate t20 team no need for that fake excitement around nepal's comeback lol sher malla got them off to a decent start but once they lost salt i knew it was game over πŸ™„ their middle order is literally unplayable dipendra singh airee is so last season and rohit paudel can't even lead his team to victory 🀣 bam's heroics were cute tho but still not enough to take down the mighty englanders πŸ‘Š

man... what a game 😱! i'm still on the edge of my seat thinking about it... nepal gave england a right ol' scare 🀯! that lokesh bam, tho? he was on fire πŸ”₯ 39 runs off 20 balls is insane! and that middle order from nepal? so clutch πŸ’ͺ dipendra singh airee and rohit paudel were the heroes of this match, no doubt about it πŸ™Œ

but england's depth was just too much for them to handle 🀯. they played some incredible cricket throughout the tournament and it showed in this match. sam curran was unstoppable πŸ’ͺ

anyway, Nepal might not have won, but i'm proud of those guys for giving it their all πŸ’• we'll be seeing more of them in the future, mark my words πŸš€

πŸ€” England's dominance is pretty scary. Like, they're two-time champions for a reason πŸ’ͺ. Can't deny Lokesh Bam's skills though, that career-best innings was sick πŸ”₯. Nepal's growth is awesome tho, still underdogs but giving it their all πŸ’•. Maybe one day they'll pull off an upset 🀞

I gotta say, I was on the edge of my seat when that last ball came around! 🀯 Sam Curran's seamers were super accurate and it was like they had a sixth sense for getting those singles and keeping Bam from winning it all. I mean, 10 runs needed off 2 balls is already a tough ask, but still, you gotta feel bad for Nepal. They played some great cricket, but sometimes it just doesn't go your way. That Lokesh Bam guy is definitely one to watch though - his skills are insane! πŸ’₯ England's team depth is no joke either. I'm guessing they're gonna take home the win now. Better luck next time, Nepal! 😊

πŸ€” I've been following this T20 World Cup for ages and it's always amazing to see those underdog teams like Nepal giving England a run for their money! πŸ† But you can't deny that the English team was just too strong in the end. 180 runs is still a decent score, but they knew how to make the most of it. Those two batters Brook and Bethell really carried the team on their shoulders and showed why England's been winning so many titles lately.

I love watching Lokesh Bam play though! He's got that special spark when he gets going 🎯 39 runs off 20 balls is not bad at all! Nepal should be proud of him and his teammates for making a statement like this. It might not have ended in a win, but it'll definitely give them more confidence to take on the bigger teams next.

I'm also impressed with that recovery by Airee and Paudel πŸ™Œ 82 runs from just 54 balls is incredible! You've got to hand it to England that they came back so strong after losing some key players, but Nepal showed a lot of heart in that comeback. Maybe one day we'll see those two teams going head-to-head again? βš”οΈ

OMG, that was such an emotional match!!! 🀯 I mean, who wouldn't root for the underdog Nepal? They really gave it their all and put up a great fight against England πŸ™Œ. That Lokesh Bam is just incredible, what a career-best innings! πŸŽ‰ And I love how his teammates supported him so much - it was like one big Nepalese family out there on that field 😊.

But at the end of the day, England's depth and consistency just took over πŸ€”. You can't deny their experience and skill, but Nepal showed us what they're capable of too πŸ’ͺ. I'm so proud of them for pushing it to the last ball! 😍 And can we talk about the tension in that final over? I was on the edge of my seat, literally biting my nails πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ.

I know it's tough not to be disappointed when you're rooting for the underdog, but Nepal gave us so much hope and excitement πŸ’–. They've got a bright future ahead of them, and I'm excited to see how they'll bounce back from this 😊.

man thats so close for nepal 🀯! bam's comeback is insane 39 runs in 20 balls lol what a shot !πŸ”₯ but england just didnt give up they were in trouble and kept pushing but i feel like nepal was due for that upset 🀞 we gotta root for them more in the next match 😊

man i cant even bleeve wat happend in dat game 🀯 england had it all locked down n then bam just comes outta nowher w/ 39 off 20 & turns the match on its head πŸ’₯ but in the end it wasnt enuf for nepal lol n england's depth is insane they got thru like it was nobodies business πŸ˜’ still cant help but feel for bam tho πŸ€• he gave everythin out there & went down w/ a bang i mean who needs 6 runs off one ball 2 keep ur team in? lol just had 2 sit back & watch as england took the win & got themselves back on top πŸ’ͺ

lol what a game! i'm literally shook that nepal even made it this far lol they got destroyed by england in the end tho 🀣 39 runs off 20 balls from bam is insane tho idk how he did it πŸ˜‚ but honestly england was just too much for them 🌟 sam curran's seam bowling was πŸ”₯ i mean who tries to hit a six off the last ball lol πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ anyway, kudos to nepal for giving england a run for their money tho πŸ™

Nepal was SO CLOSE today πŸ€―πŸ†! I'm still reeling from that incredible comeback by Lokesh Bam 😲. One guy can single-handedly turn the game around and then... not enough to win? That's cricket for ya, right? πŸ’” But seriously, it's amazing to see Nepal competing against the big boys and giving them a run for their money! πŸ™Œ The squad has come so far in just a few years, and I'm loving every minute of it πŸ˜†. Bring on the next match and let's see what we can do, team Nepal! πŸ’ͺ
