Nine arrested in San Jose gang-motivated crime sting

Nine individuals have been taken into custody in connection with a large-scale sting operation targeting gang-motivated crime sprees in San Jose, according to authorities. The arrests were made between September and November, with the majority of the incidents linked to vandalism and firearms.

Detectives identified seven primary suspects, all from San Jose, including five men and four teenage boys. The group's crimes, which took place over several months, involved a range of activities, including theft, possession of narcotics, and the use of homemade explosives.

In one notable case, law enforcement officers searched the home of a 20-year-old man and discovered a loaded firearm, large quantities of narcotics, and two improvised explosive devices. The search also uncovered stolen firearms at each of the homes belonging to the four teenage boys who were subsequently arrested.

Three more arrests followed in December, as detectives took into custody two 18-year-old men, a 17-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old boy, all from San Jose. In addition, one of the 16-year-old boys' homes yielded a stolen firearm, and another arrest was made when a 33-year-old man on parole was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant.

The suspects have been booked into the Santa Clara County jail, with the four teenage boys being held in juvenile hall. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to these cases or similar incidents to come forward.

Ugh, I'm so glad they finally caught some of those gang members! 🙌 They were clearly up to no good, and now they're facing serious consequences for their actions. The fact that it took a sting operation to catch them is kinda sad though - can't we just have more community outreach programs or something? 😔 Anyway, I hope the young guys caught are getting some help in juvenile hall, 'cause that's gotta be super tough on 'em right now 🤕. And what's up with the 20-year-old dude who had all those explosives in his house? 🤯 You'd think he was trying to become a real-life action hero or something! 💥

idk why we gotta glorify gangs like this 🤔 theyre just a bunch of teens with nothing better 2 do with their lives what if these kids got a chance 2 pursue somethin positive instead of gettin all caught up in that life? its like, whats the diff between gettin caught w/ a gun & gettin caught w/ a book or somethin?

Ugh I'm like totally frustrated with all this gang stuff going on in San Jose 🤯. It's just so senseless and destructive. These kids, some of them barely 16, are already in deep trouble because of their involvement with these gangs. And the worst part is that they're not even adults yet! They don't have a clue about what they're getting themselves into.

But at the same time, you can't help but feel a little bit sorry for them. They're just kids, after all, and it's easy to get sucked in by the thrill of being part of a group or seeking attention from their peers. And then there are the parents, who either don't know or don't care about what's going on with their kids.

Anyway, I'm glad that law enforcement is cracking down on these gangs and making arrests, but it's not like this is going to solve all our problems overnight 🤷‍♀️. We need a bigger conversation about the root causes of gang culture and how we can support these young people instead of just punishing them.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this... like, I get that gang-related crime is a big problem and all, but it's crazy how one group of people can be involved in so many serious crimes. 🤯

The fact that they had homemade explosives in one of the homes is just... wow. And the police found stolen guns at all of the teens' places? That's just sad. It makes me wonder what was going through their minds, you know?

It's good that the authorities are trying to get more info out there and encourage people to come forward, but I feel like we need more community programs in place to prevent this kind of thing from happening in the first place. Like, how can kids avoid getting involved with gangs if they don't have anywhere safe to hang out or turn to? 🤔

🤔 just saw the news about those arrests and I gotta say, it's crazy how quickly this whole thing went down! 9 people, that's a big number for a sting operation. I'm curious to know what sparked this all off - was there a specific incident or lead that set things in motion? 🕵️‍♀️

I also wonder about the impact on the community, especially with all the teenagers involved. Are they going to get counseling or support to help them make better choices? 💡 It's not just about punishing them for their actions, it's also about giving them a chance to turn their lives around.

But what really gets me is that there are always more people who get caught up in this stuff than the ones who actually start it. Like, where did these kids come from and how did they get so involved? 🤷‍♀️ It makes you wonder if we're not doing enough to reach out and help them before things go down like this.

Anyway, hope those arrested are getting some serious help and support! 🤞

I don’t usually comment but I’m kinda surprised that all these young dudes were involved. It’s like they were living in a bubble and didn’t think about how their actions would affect others 🤯. The idea of homemade explosives, stolen guns, and narcotics is wild – it’s not something you hear every day. I mean, what were they thinking? They must have been pretty desperate to get caught up with that stuff.

I also feel bad for the law enforcement who had to deal with all these cases – it can’t be easy. The Santa Clara County jail is like a mini prison in there, and the juvenile hall should help them get back on track. It’s just too bad they got into this mess in the first place.

https://www.kcra.com/news/local news/9 arrested-in-connection-to-gang-related-crime-spree-in-sant-jose/ 😬 just thinking about all those stolen guns out there is giving me anxiety, like how are we supposed to keep our communities safe when people are willing to risk it all for a few bucks or thrill? 🤯 and what's up with the minors involved? 4 teens arrested already and they're still young! 🤷‍♂️

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing 🤯. So there's like this huge gang thing going on in San Jose and they finally caught 9 people involved? That's a lot, right? I mean, it sounds serious - vandalism, theft, drugs, and even homemade explosives... that's some crazy stuff 🔥. And the worst part is those teenage boys were just 14 & 16 years old 🤕. What's going on with our youth these days? It seems like they're getting more involved in this kind of stuff way too early. I guess it's good that there are law enforcement people working hard to crack down on this, but at the same time... 😔.

Ugh, I mean, yay for safety 🙄... San Jose is finally getting some much-needed attention on gang-related crime sprees. Seven primary suspects in custody is a decent start, but I wonder how many more were involved and just didn't get caught 😒. It's not like the suspects were, you know, super intelligent or anything, so it was only a matter of time before they got pinched. 💁‍♀️ And wow, homemade explosives? That's just peachy 🎉. I'm sure the four teenage boys' homes are still a mess from the search party... I mean, the police raid 🤦‍♂️. On the bright side, at least the stolen firearms have been recovered, so that's something, right? 🙃
