There is no hurricane season in May. The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane season begins on June 1 and lasts through November 30.

According to the text, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is predicting:

* No tropical development over the next 7 days in the Atlantic Basin
* A 30% chance of a near-normal season, a 60% chance of an above-normal season, and a 10% chance of a below-normal season
* 13-19 total named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher) in the Atlantic
* 6-10 hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher)
* 3-5 major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher)

Additionally, researchers at Colorado State University are calling for above-normal conditions, predicting 17 tropical storms, 9 of which will become hurricanes, and 4 potential major hurricanes.

Methinks it's kinda weird that we're already getting weather updates this far in the year ... Like, isn't spring still a thing? omg i just checked the weather forecast yesterday and didnt see any hurricane warning like what even is a hurricane anyway? how does it form? and isnt it like super hot in may or is that when they start getting crazy

Anyway, if I look at the stats... 30% chance of a near-normal season is pretty interesting . That means there's still a decent chance it could be a normal or even above-normal season.
