Not just Wegmans: More NYC retailers using facial recognition as tech outpaces law

🤔 I think it's actually kinda cool that these retailers are trying out facial recognition tech, even if there is some controversy around it. It just means we're living in a time where innovation is happening super fast! 🚀 And who knows, maybe this tech will actually help prevent shoplifting and keep people safe in stores? 💡 But yeah, we do need to make sure that our data is protected and that there are clear guidelines and regulations around its use. It's all about finding that balance between convenience and personal freedom, you know? 😊

It's not like we already have enough things tracked about us online or in our wallets... nope, let's add another way for corporations to profit from our personal data 💸. And because who doesn't want to feel safe and secure shopping at a big-box store? 🤷‍♀️ I'm sure those facial recognition systems are super accurate and not at all prone to racial biases or misidentifications... *cough* algorithmic flaws, anyone? 😒
 
OMG u guys r gonna freak out when they start using face rec on public restrooms lol but seriously its a legit concern 🤯 these retailers are just trying 2 prevent theft n stuff but we gotta think about the bigger pic - what happens when our data gets leaked? like evan greer said it cant go get a new face if ur facial rec info leaks out 🙅‍♂️ we need stricter laws n regulations ASAP so we dont end up in some sci-fi movie dystopia 😱
