NYC expands street vendor licenses after Council overrides ex-Mayor Adams vetoes

I'm loving this new development 🙌! As someone who's lived in NYC my whole life, I've seen those street vendors struggle for years. They're not just peddling wares on the sidewalk, they're providing a vital service to our community. It's about time we give them some much-needed respect and support 🤝.

I mean, think about it - 20,000+ unlicensed vendors, most of 'em operating in the shadows? That's not exactly what I'd call "quality of life" 😒. And now, with this new law, they'll get the training, inspections, and oversight they need to operate safely and sustainably. It's about time we got our act together as a city 🙏.

I'm all for helping these vendors thrive - it's good for business, it's good for the community... and let's be real, it's just plain fair 💸. I've seen those sidewalks get clogged up with street carts and whatnot, but now we can work towards creating a more harmonious coexistence between our vendors and local businesses 🌆. Kudos to Council Speaker Julie Menin for pushing this through - she's a total rockstar 👏!

🙄 finally! can't believe it took this long for NYC to sort out its street vendor mess 🤦‍♂️ all those years of people being pushed around or forced onto the streets because they couldn't get licenses... it's just common sense 💡 I mean, a 10,500+ increase in licenses by 2027? that's like, a whole lot of vendors getting their lives together 🎉 and 2,200 supervisory licenses? yeah, that's gonna help with all the overcrowding on sidewalks 😩. it's about time they looked into safety and public health too... can't have people walking around with dodgy food stalls or unsanitary conditions 🚽. I just hope this is the start of a more organized system for vendors and local businesses alike 👍
