NYC seeks volunteers for overnight count as Mamdani begins to tackle homelessness

🤔 You know, it's crazy how many people are struggling with homelessness in our city. I mean, we're one of the richest countries in the world and still have thousands on the streets? It makes you wonder what's missing from our social safety net. I've been volunteering at a local soup kitchen for years and seen firsthand the impact that kindness and support can have on someone's life. But it's not just about throwing food or blankets – we need to address the root causes of homelessness, like lack of affordable housing and job opportunities. 🏠💼 Maybe this overnight count will help us identify some of these issues and start making real changes. Fingers crossed that our mayor's commitment pays off and we can make a dent in this crisis.

idk why mayor mamdani is trying so hard 2 tackle homelessness but like, it's not that simple lol. NYC has always been a bit sketchy and i'm not surprised they still have homeless ppl sleeping on the streets 🤷‍♂️. but im down 4 helping out, we gotta take care of each other, ya feel? its a shame tho dat only 3% of nyc's homeless population is even living on the streets rn, thats like, a whole lotta people struggling 2 make ends meet 💸👎

omg I'm so hyped to hear that NY is doing something about homelessness 🤩🏙️! Like, it's crazy that 3% of the homeless population are living on the streets in NYC compared to LA where like 70%! It makes sense though cuz of the right-to-shelter mandate, my cousin has been helping out at a shelter and it's really cool how they prioritize finding people permanent homes 💕🏠. I'm totally down to volunteer for the homeless count, I feel so bad for these ppl who are struggling 🤗💔. The fact that there are over 1k ppl connected to stable housing last year is like WOW! 🙌 Can't wait to see what kind of impact this can make on the city 💖🌆

🤔 I'm gonna have to give this one a thought... it's cool that they're trying to count people who are literally living on the streets, but isn't there like 3% of NY homeless people out there? That seems kinda low considering how big the city is. Guess we need more outreach programs or something. 🤷‍♂️

🤝 I'm so down for this! As someone who's walked through Times Square at 3 am and seen people sleeping on the benches 🛋️, it's heartbreaking but also makes me wanna do something about it. The fact that NYC is doing this count helps, 'cause we all know how hard it can be to navigate the streets at night. I'm thinking of signing up with a group of friends who are into social justice stuff – we can spread the word and make it a community thing! But for real, though, have you ever tried to sleep in a park? 😂 Not fun. The idea that our mayor is committed to addressing homelessness head-on is super promising, especially with those Safe Haven beds being added 🌟. Anyone else think this is a great initiative?

idk man... i mean, idk... 🤔 i think we should be doing more to help homeless people but at the same time, isn't it weird that 70% of LA's homeless population is on the streets? like, what's going on there? 🤷‍♂️ anyway, volunteering for this thing sounds cool i guess. mayor mamdani seems legit and all... but can we really guarantee that this is gonna make a difference? 🤔 and what about all the people who aren't homeless but are struggling to afford rent or whatever? shouldn't we be focusing on them too? 🤷‍♂️
