Philadelphia Art Museum adds Pay What You Wish Friday nights for ‘Dreamworld’

Philadelphia's iconic Art Museum is shaking things up for its final three weeks with a unique twist: Pay What You Wish Fridays. The museum has announced that it will offer flexible admission after 5 p.m. on January 30, February 6, and February 13 for its current special exhibition, "Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100". This move marks the first time a major special exhibition has been included in the Pay What You Wish program.

For these three nights, visitors can enjoy the surreal-themed cocktail bar, indulge in light bites, and groove to the beats of resident DJ yōsukeDj. The evening atmosphere is reminiscent of a typical Friday Night at the museum, but with a touch of surrealism that complements the exhibition's themes perfectly.

However, don't expect it to be all fun and games. Capacity is limited, with last entry at 8:15 p.m., so arriving early is highly recommended. And, in some cases, the evening will feature additional programming – such as the Philadelphia Ballet's performance of "Connection" on February 6 – adding an extra layer of depth to the experience.

As it happens, one of these nights falls within the museum's Black History Month celebration, offering a special opportunity for community members to connect with art and culture. On February 13, live music, pop-up art experiences, and community partners will all be on hand to make the evening even more memorable.

For those who haven't had a chance to visit "Dreamworld" yet, this is an excellent chance to catch it at a lower cost than usual. The exhibition itself has garnered national attention for its comprehensive look at surrealism's 100-year history – and now, it's available to all at Pay What You Wish prices.

Mark your calendars for these three special nights, and get ready to indulge in some of the city's best art, music, and culture.

OMG 🤯 I'm so down for this! Pay What You Wish Fridays sounds like a total game-changer for the Art Museum. Like, who doesn't love a good excuse to go out and enjoy some art, music, and vibes? 💃🏻 And can we talk about how cool it is that they're incorporating live performances and community events on one of those nights? It's all about spreading the love and making art accessible to everyone 🌈💖

I'm not sure if I love this idea... 🤔 I mean, who doesn't want to pay what they wish? But at the same time, it sounds kinda weird that we're gonna have to show up early and all that... like, 8:15 pm? That's kinda harsh. And what if there's a long line? Do we really wanna risk waiting around for hours just to see some art? 🤷‍♀️ But on the other hand, I guess it is cool that they're doing something special for Black History Month... and it sounds like it could be a lot of fun! Maybe I'll check it out... or maybe not...

omg this is so lit!! pay what you wish Fridays sounds like an amazing deal! i'm def down for a surreal-themed night out with friends 🤪 and checking out that exhibition would be a dream come true... even if it means braving the crowds 🎉 gotta make sure to get there early tho, can't believe they're limited entry though... still super excited about the Philly Ballet performance on Feb 6, gotta see what all the fuss is about 💃🏼 and live music? pop-up art experiences? yes pls!

OMG, this is such a cool idea 🤩! I'm totally down for paying what I wish on Fridays and still getting to enjoy all the amazing stuff the Art Museum has to offer 🎨🍸. The addition of live music and pop-up art experiences sounds like an absolute blast 🕺💥. And can you even imagine how surreal it'll be with DJ yōsukeDj spinning some tunes 🎶? The fact that one of these nights aligns with Black History Month is also super awesome ❤️. Let's get the word out and make this a night to remember 💖!

This is gonna be lit!!! 🤩 The idea of paying what you wish on Fridays is genius, I'm so down for that. But like, who's gonna make sure people don't just show up and take advantage of it? It's only 3 nights, but I'm worried some ppl might just take it for granted cuz it's pay what you wish... also, can we talk about how cool is it to have a DJ and live music on top of the exhibit?! February 6th is gonna be EVERYTHING 💃🏻

I'm really stoked about this, Pay What You Wish Fridays are always a vibe 🤩! The Art Museum is stepping up their game with "Dreamworld" exhibition and adding these fun events - it's gonna be lit 💃! However, I do worry that the limited capacity might make it hard for people to get in, especially if they're not familiar with the museum. Maybe they could consider live streaming or something? But overall, I think this is a great way to bring art and culture to more people - who doesn't love free or low-cost events? 🎨💕

I think this is a total game-changer! 🎉 Who wouldn't want to pay what they wish on Fridays? It's genius! I'm gonna grab my friends and make a night out of it. The fact that it's part of Black History Month celebration makes it even more special. 👍

I'm so down for this! Pay What You Wish Fridays are always a win in my book 🤩🎉. I mean, who doesn't love art without breaking the bank? The addition of that surreal-themed bar and DJ night is gonna bring out the party people. But for real tho, it's awesome they're incorporating more than just the exhibition itself - like live music and pop-up art experiences on February 13. It feels like they're making an effort to make this a really special event 🎊. If I were in Philly for those nights, you can bet I'd be there with my squad, enjoying some surreal vibes!

🤔 I'm not sure about this Pay What You Wish Fridays thing... sounds like a bunch of marketing hype to me 😏. Don't get me wrong, it's cool that they're trying to make the museum more accessible, but are they really expecting people to just pay whatever they feel like? That can't be fair to the artists and curators who spent years working on those exhibitions 🤷‍♀️.

And what about all the extra activities and events that come with it? It's like they're trying to turn a museum visit into some kind of festival. I mean, how many live performances can one person handle in one night? 😂 Not saying it wouldn't be fun for some people, but for others, it might just feel too much.

I'm all about supporting local art and culture, but let's not get carried away with the excitement 🎉. We should be focusing on making sure these types of exhibitions are sustainable in the long run, not just creating a buzz around them.

I'm so stoked about this new twist on Philly's iconic Art Museum! 🎨 It's like, who needs a boring old ticket price when you can pay what you wish? I mean, if you're feeling generous, that's awesome, but even just showing up with an open mind and a willingness to learn is half the battle. And the fact that they're adding in some sick beats and vibes to the mix is just the cherry on top 🎶. But for real, what's not to love about Pay What You Wish Fridays? It's like the museum is saying, "Hey, we trust you," and I am HERE. FOR. IT. 😊

man... i love this idea 🤩, but it feels like a weird mashup of old school museum vibes with something straight outta a rave party 😎. like remember when we used to go to these super chill museums in the 90s where you could just hang out for hours and not have to pay? yeah... that's basically what this is - except now it's got DJs and cocktails 🍹🕺. i'm down for it tho, as long as they don't turn it into some soulless corporate event 💸. can't wait to check out the exhibit and see what all the fuss is about 🎨

🎨💫 I'm low-key excited about this Pay What You Wish thing they're doin' at the Art Museum! Its always a good vibe on Fridays but addin some sick beats from yōsukeDj and them surreal cocktails? 🍹🔮 For sure gonna be a wild night! But gotta say, they need to step up their game on them lines - who does last entry at 8:15?! That's straight up rude 😒. Anyways, can't wait to check out this "Dreamworld" exhibit and catch that Philly Ballet show too!

awww man i wish philly could have this kinda vibe all the time 🤩🎨💃 it sounds like so much fun! but you know what makes me happy? that they're making it accessible to everyone, especially during black history month 💕🎉 i'm sure it's gonna be a really special night for the community 🌟 and honestly, who doesn't love pay what you wish nights? 😊

omg i wonder if they will have any pop corn stalls 🍿🎉 lol anyway what's with this pay what you wish thing? is it like a test run or something? btw has anyone been to that art museum before? i've always wanted to go but never knew where it was lol

Umm... gotta say, who needs free admission when you can pay what u feel like lol? I mean, sure it's cool that its Pay What You Wish on Fridays but come on ppl, if u really wanna see this exhibition, might as well chip in a bit more 💸🎨

Ugh, can't even enjoy a museum visit without the hassle of showing ID, right? I mean, what's next, proof of vaccination too? 🤦‍♂️ Anyway, Pay What You Wish Fridays sound like a cool idea, but let's be real, it's just gonna make the crowds worse. And don't even get me started on the limited capacity, 8:15 p.m.? Are they kidding me?! I've got better things to do than wait around all day for some art exhibition. Can we just have a regular old night with reasonable prices instead? 😒

ugh, i'm so done with museums offering "pay what you wish" days 🙄, like, what even is that supposed to do? just means more people will come and crowd out the actual art enthusiasts who are trying to appreciate the exhibit in peace 😒. and don't even get me started on the limited capacity – good luck getting in after 8 pm if you're not planning ahead 💔. but i guess it's kinda cool that they're offering some extras, like live music and pop-up art experiences 🎨. still can't believe i have to pay a reduced price for an exhibit that's supposed to be worth full price 🤑
