Premier League's warped economics make £65m fee for Semenyo a snip | Jonathan Wilson

OMG, £65 million for Semenyo is like, totally wild 🤯! I get why City thinks he's worth it, but £65 mil? That's just crazy talk 💸. I mean, he's not exactly the next Kylian Mbappé or anything 😂. It's like clubs are throwing money at these players and hoping they'll magically turn into superstars 🎩. And don't even get me started on Benjamin Sesko... £40 mil? What were City thinking? 😂 The market is just so out of whack right now, and it's hard to separate the hype from actual value 💔.

I think what bothers me most is that these huge transfer fees are setting a precedent for other clubs to follow 🚀. It's like a never-ending game of transfer fee one-upmanship, where clubs feel pressured to keep up with the Joneses (or in this case, City and Liverpool 😂). And fans? We're just along for the ride, wondering how it all adds up 💸. Maybe I'm just cynical, but I think we need a reset button on these crazy transfer fees 📈

come on £65 million for some midfield midfielder? i mean don't get me wrong semenyo is a decent player but that price tag is just ridiculous 🤣 he's not even a no 1 target man like alexander isak or benjamin sesko were. its all about the hype and market trends now. clubs are more worried about keeping up with the likes of liverpool and man city rather than making sensible signings. i still dont get why they spent so much on semenyo, could've gotten someone cheaper and done just as well 🤷‍♂️
