I'm kinda surprised they're letting go of Jordan Hicks, he had that crazy 105mph fastball but apparently his ERA was a bit of a red flag last season. Still, it's all about building towards the future, and if Ziehl is gonna be part of the mix, maybe this trade is exactly what Boston needed to get some fresh talent
I'm not super stoked about this trade tho ... I mean, Jordan Hicks is like a great pitcher, but 8.20 ERA? That's just rough . But at the same time, I can see why they'd wanna trade him to Chicago - their bullpen could use an upgrade. And Gage Ziehl sounds like he's got potential ... maybe this is a smart move for the Red Sox to get some fresh talent coming in? Still gotta wonder what kind of future we'll see with Devers and all, but I guess that's part of rebuilding, right?
another move down the toilet for Boston... i mean who needs a good bullpen when you got 8.20 ERA on your hands? seriously though, it's all about building for the future, but honestly, can't they just trade Devers already? Hicks' deal is still pretty hefty so I guess this cash helps to offset that. Ziehl's a nice pick up tho, might bring some hope to that Red Sox farm system maybe someday they'll be able to compete with the Yanks again... but for now, let's just say i'm not holding my breath
