I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised by Shaun Wane's decision to step down as England head coach so soon before the Rugby League World Cup 
. I mean, he did lead them to some great wins against top teams like Tonga and Samoa, but at the same time, they didn't exactly cover themselves in glory during those Ashes Tests against Australia last year

I think what might have contributed to his decision was the constant pressure from fans and pundits alike
. I mean, it's one thing to be confident in your abilities, but when everyone around you is doubting you, it can take a toll 
. Plus, with the Rugby Football League making the coaching role part-time, that might limit the number of qualified candidates who want to take on the job.
But, at the same time, I think Shaun Wane was definitely a popular figure among players and fans, and his no-nonsense attitude is something that can be really inspiring
. Whoever takes over from him will have their work cut out for them, but if they can find the right balance between control and adaptability, maybe England can surprise everyone and make a deep run at the World Cup

. Now, I'm curious about who'll take over... Matt Peet's got some great experience with Wigan, but will he be able to gel the team? And what about Daryl Powell? He seems like a decent bloke, but has he got the big-game know-how?
