Sony and Netflix Will Keep Being Streaming Buddies

Netflix and Sony have inked a multi-year deal that will keep their streaming partnership strong. As part of this agreement, Sony's movies will continue to stream on Netflix after they exit theaters and become available on VOD. This means fans can expect to see popular films like "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," "Beyond the Spider-Verse," and "The Legend of Zelda" streaming on Netflix.

In addition to film releases, Netflix has also secured licensing rights to select Sony-owned feature film and television titles. While details are still scarce, it's possible that some Sony properties could become permanent fixtures on the platform, similar to the recent success of K-Pop Demon Hunters.

According to sources, the deal is reportedly worth over $7 billion, more than double the $2.5 billion agreement reached by Netflix for domestic rights in 2021. Executives from both companies say the partnership has been a win-win, with Sony's films receiving significant attention on the streaming service. For example, Paul Littmann, Sony's executive VP, highlighted the increased visibility of films like "Uncharted" and "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."

With this deal in place, Netflix is solidifying its position as a major player in the film industry. However, it raises questions about whether the company can create its own critically acclaimed content that stands alongside those it licenses from other studios.

I'm so stoked about this deal ๐Ÿคฉ! It's like, total win-win for both Netflix and Sony ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘. I mean, who doesn't love binge-watching Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Netflix? ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ But seriously, this partnership is gonna bring some serious FOMO (fear of missing out) to fans everywhere ๐Ÿ˜…. It's like, we get to enjoy all these awesome Sony movies and TV shows on Netflix, without having to jump through hoops to watch 'em elsewhere ๐Ÿคฏ. And let's be real, the fact that this deal is worth over $7 billion? ๐Ÿ’ธ Mind blown! Can't wait to see what kind of magic happens with their licensing rights, might just bring some new IPs (intellectual properties) to Netflix' shelves ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’ป. One thing I do wonder tho, can Netflix keep up with the competition and still churn out that critically acclaimed content? ๐Ÿค” Only time will tell! ๐Ÿ‘€

OMG, you guys!!! ๐Ÿคฏ I'm literally shook by this news!! Like seriously, $7 BILLION is insane! Sony and Netflix are basically becoming BFFs for film & TV rights and I am HERE FOR IT!!! ๐Ÿ™Œ "Beyond the Spider-Verse" is finally coming to Netflix, oh my goodness, can't wait to binge-watch it with all my Spidey fans!!! ๐Ÿ˜ And who else is excited about "The Legend of Zelda"? I mean, have you seen those trailers? ๐Ÿ”ฅ So many iconic Sony movies and TV shows are going straight to Netflix... this is like the ultimate game-changer for streaming! ๐Ÿ“บ What's next?! Will we see more exclusive Sony content on Netflix? Can't wait to find out!!! ๐Ÿ’–

man I think people are hating on netflix too much ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ they're just trying to compete with sony and other studios but honestly I love how they're giving us more options to stream our fave movies and shows ๐Ÿ˜Ž like who wouldn't want to see spider-man and the legend of zelda on their watchlist? ๐Ÿ“บ and yeah I guess it's not ideal that they can't create original content that stands on its own but I think it's a solid partnership, especially considering how much they're paying sony ๐Ÿ’ธ plus, let's be real, some of those movies aren't even that great in theaters so streaming them later might be the only way to enjoy them without overpaying ๐ŸŽฅ

idk how they came up with $7 billion tho ๐Ÿค‘ it's a lot! i mean, both companies seem to benefit from this deal, but what about the other streaming services? are they gonna get left in the dust? and yeah, it'll be interesting to see if netflix can produce its own content that competes with these licensed titles... like, can they make something as good as spider-man? ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ that's a tough act to follow

๐Ÿค” this deal is crazy! like whoa $7 billion and stuff ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿ’ธ but seriously with more movies coming to netflix i'm hyped ๐Ÿ˜ƒ especially if they get to keep some sony titles for good ๐Ÿ‘ and btw have you seen spider-man: across the spider-verse ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘€

So they're really locking down Sony's movies on Netflix now ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ’ธ - that's some serious power right there! But I mean, isn't this just another way for Netflix to keep people hooked without having to actually invest in its own content creation? Like, what about all those critically acclaimed shows it's been hyping up for years and then... nothing? ๐Ÿค”

And $7 billion is a lot of cash ๐Ÿ’ธ - I guess you could say Sony's really got something to lose if they don't make the most of this deal. But on the flip side, it does feel like Netflix is trying to buy its way into being taken seriously as an original content creator ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

I'm not gonna lie, though - with all these big-name franchises streaming on Netflix, I'm kinda excited to see what they do next ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Maybe we'll finally get some more high-quality shows out of the deal? Fingers crossed! ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ˜’ I mean think about it... $7 billion is like, totally insane for a deal with one movie studio ๐Ÿคฏ They must be making bank off these licensing rights or something ๐Ÿ’ธ I don't know what's more crazy, the fact that they're locking down Sony's properties for years to come or that Netflix can finally brag about having some actual big name films in their catalog ๐ŸŽฅ It's like, we get it, you guys are trying to keep up with Amazon Prime... but seriously though? Can Netflix please just create something original for once?! I mean, don't get me wrong, "Demon Hunters" was lit ๐Ÿ”ฅ but that's about it from them lately... the rest of their content is just, meh ๐Ÿ˜

I'm loving this new deal between Netflix and Sony ๐Ÿคฉ! It's like they're making their own version of Marvel Cinematic Universe on Netflix. I mean, can you imagine seeing all these iconic Spider-Man movies on one place? And the fact that Sony is getting more visibility for their films is a win-win for everyone involved ๐Ÿ’ธ. But at the same time, it's also raising questions about whether Netflix can create its own masterpieces without relying on licensing other studios' content ๐Ÿค”. What do you think, can Netflix go toe-to-toe with the big studios?

omg just heard the news about netflix and sony's deal ๐Ÿคฏ i'm kinda stoked because i love watching movies on my phone but sometimes they leave after a while so this is gonna be awesome for fans like me who wanna keep up with their fave franchises ๐Ÿ™Œ

i was thinking maybe netflix could try to make some original content that's as good or even better than the sony stuff? idk, i mean the k-pop demon hunters show was pretty cool but i'm not sure if netflix can replicate that magic on a bigger scale ๐Ÿ’ฅ

do you think we'll see more video games being turned into shows on netflix now that there's a deal in place? ๐ŸŽฎ that would be so lit!

Just got word that the world's largest coral reefs are dying... like, literally. I mean, we knew they were in trouble but it's getting real fast ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ˜ฑ. And on a more pleasant note, apparently Sony and Netflix just made their streaming deal even bigger! That's cool, I guess. But let's not get too distracted from the impending doom of our oceans... ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿณ. Anyway, Sony's movies are gonna be on Netflix forever now. Great, just what we need, more Spider-Man ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ. Can't wait to see "Beyond the Spider-Verse" again... not. ๐Ÿ’”

๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘ that's awesome news for fans! ๐Ÿคฉ i mean, who doesn't love binge-watching spider-man movies on netflix? ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ and it's cool to see sony's films getting more visibility ๐Ÿ“ˆ. but, like, is netflix really creating its own content now? ๐Ÿค” or are they just gonna keep licensing from other studios? ๐Ÿค‘ i think it's a bit of both, tbh. ๐Ÿ’ก maybe this deal will motivate them to produce some amazing original shows and movies too! ๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ‘€

I gotta say, $7 billion is wild ๐Ÿ’ธ! I'm glad to see Sony's movies on Netflix tho, they're always a hit with my crew ๐Ÿ‘ซ. But, gotta wonder how long this deal lasts and if Netflix can keep up the quality of the content ๐Ÿค”. They're basically copying from other studios for now, but what about creating their own IP? That's where it gets really interesting... will they be able to compete with the big boys or are we gonna see more licensing deals in the future?
