Staten Island conservatives wrestle with their choice for NYC mayor: Sliwa or Cuomo?

I think its weird that Staten Islanders are having this super split decision on Cuomo and Sliwa, especially since Mamdani is doing pretty well in the polls 🤔. Some people are worried about Mamdani's policies, but others just don't like him because of who he is as a person - kinda funny how they're using that to sway their vote 🙃. Sliwa has some good points too, I mean, the Guardian Angels did save his life when he was younger so thats got to count for something 😊. And honestly, Cuomo's been pretty good about reaching out to Republicans and independents, but still, its clear people are having a hard time making up their minds 🤯.

I gotta say, this Staten Island mayoral election is getting pretty messy. Like, Cuomo is trying to appeal to the GOP voters, but Sliwa's still gaining traction despite being a bit of an unconventional candidate. I mean, who would've thought Curtis Sliwa could be a force in politics? It's like he's got some kinda crazy charm going on. And those Staten Islanders are straight-up telling it like it is - "I'll take Sliwa over Cuomo, but not because I agree with his views, just 'cause Mamdani's not my cup of tea". That's real talk, fam 🤷‍♂️

🤔 I'm confused about this whole thing. So, Cuomo is the favorite to win and all, but some voters in Staten Island are voting for Sliwa because of the Guardian Angels? Like, that's a reason to vote against Mamdani? 🙄 I need some more info on how the Guardian Angels helped Ponzio when he was a teenager. Where's the source on this?

And what's with Cuomo trying to court Republican voters? Is this just a ploy to make Sliwa seem like an outsider? 🤔 I don't get why Cuomo is being so aggressive about winning over people who already support Sliwa. Doesn't he know that some of these people are only voting for him because they don't want Mamdani?

I also find it weird that Sliwa's team is accusing Cuomo of "gaslighting" New Yorkers. Is this just a bunch of spin? 🤷‍♂️ What does that even mean in this context?

🤔 I'm telling ya, back in my day we didn't have all these complex elections and whatnot. We just voted for who we thought was the best candidate! 🙄 Now it's like, Cuomo's people are trying to get those Repubs on their side and Sliwa's team is all like "no way, they're voting against Mamdani". It's like a big ol' mess, you know? 😂 Some people might be thinking of Mamdani as too radical but others just don't like his policies. I mean, it's not like anyone's going to get everything right, that's why we have elections, right? 🤷‍♂️

I'm so confused about the whole Cuomo vs Sliwa situation in Staten Island. I mean, I get why some people might think Mamdani is too left-wing, but it's like, we've had progressive mayors before and everything turned out okay 🤷‍♂️. On one hand, you got your Sliwa supporters who are all about the Guardian Angels vibes 💪, but then you got Cuomo trying to win over Republicans with his "experience" thing...it's just hard to keep track.

And can we talk about how Sliwa is just being super stubborn and refusing to concede? Like, I get it, he might be passionate about his campaign, but it's not healthy for anyone 🙅‍♂️. At the end of the day, voters are just trying to make a choice that works for them, without all the drama and name-calling 🤦‍♀️.

I'm curious to see how this all plays out on election day...will Sliwa's supporters actually defect to Cuomo or will they stick with their original candidate?

OMG u guys I got the tea from my buddy who's like a super active voter in Staten Island 🤫 and honestly it's all about Sliwa vs Cuomo for them. It's not even close that Staten Islanders are voting early but still divided on the 2 candidates... some ppl r straight up voting against Zohran Mamdani tho 🤦‍♂️ like he sounds super liberal to them. Meanwhile others are just saying they're voting against Mamdani but supporting Sliwa coz of his Guardian Angels backstory 🚨 or policy disagreements. Cuomo's been trying 2 get in good w/ the Republicans but Sliwa's still got a huge lead, esp among people who only vote in presidential elections 🤝
