The $500 billion beauty industry’s ‘green’ ambitions are a patchwork at best. And they’re falling short | CNN

I'm so bummed to hear that the beauty industry's eco-friendly claims aren't as solid as I thought 🤕. It's like they're just patching up a few holes instead of doing some real overhauls. And can we talk about how confusing it is for consumers to figure out which products are actually sustainable? 🤯 I mean, who has the time or energy to do all that research? We need more transparency and regulation in this industry, like governments stepping in to set some standards. The beauty companies just can't be relied on to get it right on their own 💁‍♀️.

🤔 Industry's Greenwashing 📦

Brands claiming "clean beauty" just to make a buck is so extra 🤑 . They're not even providing transparent labeling or ingredients info, it's all marketing speak 💁‍♀️.

The lack of international standards for ingredient sharing makes it hard for consumers to trust what they see on the packaging. It's like they want us to think recyclable packaging means "we tried" recycle plastic 🚮.

And don't even get me started on PCR plastic being more expensive than virgin plastic, what a no-brainer 💸. Companies need to step up and make sustainability a priority, not just use it as a marketing gimmick.

Retailers should be setting higher standards for brands they sell too 🛍️. We need real change, not just lip service 😒.
