The Atari Hotel in Las Vegas Isn't Happening Anymore

Atari's Sin City Dreams Turn to Dust: The Fading Hope of a Retro-Themed Hotel in Las Vegas

The announcement in 2020 that Atari would be building several video game-themed hotels across the country was met with excitement among gamers, but six years later, none have materialized. According to the latest update from the Las Vegas Sun, the plan for an Atari hotel in Sin City has officially come crashing down.

The Las Vegas project was initially touted as a 400-room hotel inspired by classic and modern video game culture. The building's design would feature the iconic Atari logo on the front, with plans to develop at least five acres of land along the strip. However, after years of silence from the company, it appears that the deal never came together.

While the Las Vegas project has been put to rest, other locations are still in limbo. The Phoenix hotel is reportedly still in development, with a planned opening date of late 2026 and an expected completion timeline of 2028. Atari recently released renderings of the proposed hotel and a teaser trailer on YouTube, which promises to bring about a "first-of-its-kind" playable hotel for gamers. However, investors may want to temper their expectations as the final construction timeline has been pushed back.

Despite some optimism earlier this year from the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Atari had not abandoned the project, it seems that the odds are stacked against the retro-themed hotel becoming a reality anytime soon. As Atari pushes forward with the Phoenix location, it will be interesting to see if the company can overcome the numerous setbacks and delays plaguing its plans for an immersive gaming experience in Sin City.

ugh I'm like super disappointed about this news ๐Ÿค• my friend's cousin was supposed to get a job at the hotel and now that's all being taken away from her ๐Ÿ˜” I don't know what's going on with Atari but it seems like they can't even get one of their projects off the ground ๐Ÿ™„ I mean I'm a huge gamer myself and I would've loved to check out this retro-themed hotel in Vegas ๐ŸŽฎ I guess we'll just have to wait and see if anything ever happens with the Phoenix location ๐Ÿ‘€

Wow! ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, come on... six years of silence? That's just crazy talk! ๐Ÿ™„ They promised so much back in 2020 and now it's all just dust in the desert ๐Ÿ˜‚. Phoenix is still gonna happen or not? ๐Ÿค” Can't wait to see how that one plays out ๐Ÿ’ฅ

I'm so disappointed ๐Ÿค•, I was really hyped about that Atari hotel back in 2020... six years later and nothing ๐Ÿ˜’. It's like they said they were gonna bring a piece of gaming history to life in Vegas and now it's just a pipe dream ๐Ÿ’”. I mean, who wouldn't want a playable hotel? ๐Ÿคฉ But I guess the delays and lack of updates from Atari made me lose faith... not good for the gaming community ๐Ÿ‘Ž. Maybe the Phoenix location will rise above all this, but for now, it's just a sad tale of broken dreams ๐Ÿ˜”

omg u guys i told u this would happen ๐Ÿคฏ Atari's been playing games with us all along lol they said they were gonna build these epic hotels but it looks like it was just a dream ๐ŸŒ™ meanwhile the phoenix hotel is still stuck in limbo and we're supposed to believe that late 2026/2028 is even realistic ๐Ÿ“† anyone think atari's just trying to get our hopes up so we'll invest in their failing gaming business? ๐Ÿค‘

๐Ÿ˜” it's like the ultimate "Tron" fail - you know, that movie where Kevin Flynn gets trapped in a simulated reality and he's stuck there forever? ๐Ÿ˜‚ that's kinda what's happening with Atari's Sin City Dreams ๐Ÿค–. they had this huge vision of a retro-themed hotel, but it's just faded away into nothingness like a glitched-out Pac-Man level ๐Ÿ˜ข. i mean, i get it, building a hotel takes time and money, but six years is a looong time to be stuck in development limbo ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. can't wait to see what happens with the Phoenix location though, maybe they'll manage to "glitch" out some success ๐Ÿ’ฅ

like, what's up with atari's plans?? ๐Ÿค” i mean, they announced all this hype back in 2020 and now nothing's happening. i remember seeing those renderings and teaser trailer on youtube... it looked so cool! but now it's just a bunch of delays and setbacks. i'm not giving up on it tho... maybe they'll surprise us again ๐Ÿคž but it's kinda sad when a project like this fizzles out. does anyone know what happened with the las vegas deal??

๐Ÿค• This is so sad! I was really hoping to stay at an Atari hotel when they finally open... I mean who wouldn't want to sleep among pixel art and video game history? ๐ŸŽฎ The thing is, it's not just about the hotels themselves, but also the experience you'd have inside. Would you be able to play classic games in your room? Or participate in gaming tournaments while you're there? ๐Ÿค” It sounds like they've lost that momentum now. Maybe instead of a hotel, we'll see something even cooler - an Atari gaming center or arcade? ๐ŸŽฎ That would still bring the nostalgia and fun for gamers!

ugh I'm so disappointed atm ๐Ÿค• I was literally hyped about that Atari hotel comin thru in Vegas, would've been a dream come true for gamers like me ๐Ÿ’ฅ It's crazy how things can go from promise to dust like that ๐Ÿ’” I mean, I get it, projects take time and whatnot, but it feels like they're just straining their cred ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ still gotta keep an eye on the Phoenix one tho ๐Ÿคž

I'm soooo sad about this ๐Ÿค•... I know some people were really hyped about that Atari hotel in Las Vegas, but let's be real, it was just a marketing stunt ๐Ÿค‘... I mean, who needs a 400-room hotel when you can just play classic arcade games at home or on the go? ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ’ป And another thing, those delays and setbacks are super normal for any big project, especially in a city like Vegas where everything is all about spectacle ๐Ÿ’ฅ... I'm still keeping an eye out for that Phoenix location though ๐Ÿคž, maybe it'll surprise us all with its awesomeness ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Ugh, what's going on with Atari? I was so hyped about that retro-themed hotel in Las Vegas ๐Ÿค”... Like, who wouldn't want to stay at a place that's basically a giant video game console? ๐Ÿ˜‚ But six years later and nothing? It's like they kept promising us something amazing only to pull the plug ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

I mean, I get it, gaming is super competitive and companies have to make smart business decisions. But can't they just give us some hope every once in a while? ๐Ÿ™„ The renderings of the Phoenix hotel look cool, but if it's not gonna happen until 2028 that's just too long to wait ๐Ÿ’”.

Is it really worth the risk for Atari to keep pushing forward with this project? It seems like they're taking on way more debt than necessary... Maybe they should just stick to making games and leave the hospitality industry alone ๐Ÿ˜‚. What do you guys think? Should Atari try again or just cut their losses ๐Ÿค”?

it's super bummer when dreams turn out to be a mess ๐Ÿค• i mean, who wouldn't wanna stay in a hotel that's literally a giant video game? it was supposed to be this epic retro-themed haven where gamers could live out their fantasies 24/7... but now it seems like those plans are just going down the drain ๐Ÿ’€ at least they're still working on the phoenix location tho, fingers crossed that'll come together ๐Ÿคž

I'm really disappointed about this news ๐Ÿค•... I mean, who doesn't love video games, right? And a hotel based on Atari would've been so cool! Imagine staying at a place with all your fave old-school arcade games and even being able to play them in the rooms ๐ŸŽฎ. But now it seems like that's not gonna happen for Las Vegas. I was kinda looking forward to checking out the Phoenix one too... fingers crossed they get it done soon, but it's hard to be optimistic right now ๐Ÿ˜”

๐Ÿ˜ฉ I'm not surprised to hear that Atari's Sin City Dreams have fizzled out... I mean, who doesn't love a good nostalgia trip? ๐Ÿคฏ The idea of immersing yourself in classic video game culture was super cool when they first announced it back in 2020. But six years on and nothing's materialized... ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ It just goes to show that even the most ambitious plans can fall through. I'm still keeping an eye on the Phoenix project, though - fingers crossed it'll come together eventually! ๐Ÿ’ช

omg, i'm like so disappointed about this! ๐Ÿค• atari's sin city dreams were literally my favorite thing ever ๐Ÿ˜” i remember when they first announced it back in 2020 and everyone was hyped ๐Ÿ’ฅ it seemed like it was gonna be a reality for like forever, but now it's just dust in the wind โ˜๏ธ

i get that development can be slow, but six years is just ridiculous ๐Ÿ™„ especially with how much hype there was around this project. i'm still hoping they'll make it happen at their phoenix location tho ๐Ÿคž fingers crossed! ๐Ÿคž

I'm kinda bummed about this... I mean, I know there are gonna be other retro gaming hotels popping up somewhere else ๐Ÿค”... but still, it's sad that Atari's idea didn't make it to life in Las Vegas. I guess you could say the city just wasn't vibin' with it ๐Ÿ˜. But hey, at least they're keepin' the Phoenix project goin', right? It'll be cool to see how it turns out! And who knows, maybe they can still make some magic happen with that playable hotel thing... fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž

๐Ÿค” I'm not surprised that Atari's Sin City dreams have fallen through ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ’”. I mean, we've been hearing about this project for years now, and it seems like nothing ever materializes ๐Ÿ˜’. It's like they're stuck in an infinite loop of retro gaming nostalgia without actually building anything ๐Ÿ“š. And to think they were gonna make a playable hotel for gamers? More like a pipe dream ๐Ÿ’ค. I'm not saying it's impossible for them to pull this off, but the delays and setbacks are just too many ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. Maybe they should focus on developing some actual new games instead of trying to recreate the past ๐Ÿšซ. The Phoenix project might still come to fruition, but I wouldn't hold my breath โฑ๏ธ.

๐Ÿค” Still weird they cancelled the whole thing in Las Vegas... I mean I get it, delays happen but 6 years is a long time, especially when you're trying to build a hotel ๐Ÿจ. Maybe the Phoenix one will turn out okay though? ๐Ÿคž Guess we'll just have to wait and see if Atari can pull off this gaming hotel thingy ๐Ÿ’ป... don't want to be all cynical about it ๐Ÿ˜Š

ugh just great another one bites the dust ๐Ÿค• atari's got a long history of flops what's next gonna happen now they're stuck with this phoenix project that's still in limbo like come on already release it or just scrap it altogether lol wouldn't be surprised if it turns out like all their other failed ventures
