OMG, this guy Mark Thomson is like, taking over Cern at the most epic time ever! The LHC is about to get a major upgrade and it's gonna be SO bright!!! 
I'm hyped just thinking about it! He's right though, there's still so much we don't know about particles and the universe... it's like, whoa! 
And can you believe he's already thinking about the Future Circular Collider? That thing sounds like a mind-blowing dream come true! 
But yeah, funding is a big deal, gotta get all the Cern member states on board or it's gonna be a major letdown... Fingers crossed they make it happen tho!

This appointment just feels like a move by Cern to shift focus away from actual physics progress and more towards the politics of international collaboration 
. I mean, who needs funding when you've got diplomats to deal with? It's all about keeping the EU (and its member states) happy, rather than pushing for groundbreaking discoveries that could change our understanding of the universe 
. One thing's for sure: it's gonna be a wild ride with the LHC upgrade and the FCC on the horizon... and we'll all get to watch as Cern tries to navigate these treacherous waters

because if we don't get this FCC project off the ground, it's like... what are we even doing here?
