Tottenham: Thomas Frank reveals Chelsea and Man Utd talks last year

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has revealed that he was in talks with both Chelsea and Manchester United on the same day last year. The Dane, 52, met with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of Manchester United's co-owners, in his garage before heading to a hotel in London to speak with Chelsea. However, Frank denied any involvement with Chelsea after they appointed Enzo Maresca as their new manager.

Frank's revelation comes after he left Brentford to take over at Tottenham in June 2024. He is now guiding the North London club, who are currently fifth in the Premier League table. The Dane attributes his success at Tottenham to the atmosphere he created between the squad and staff during his time at Brentford, which he believes was unique.

Frank admits that he had a "crazy job" and "challenge" when joining Tottenham, stating that he is "head down, 24/7, 365" in terms of focusing on winning and moving forward. Despite the challenges, Frank remains confident about his team's prospects under his leadership.

I remember when Thomas Frank left Brentford for Tottenham, people were wondering if he'd lost his magic ๐Ÿ˜‚. Now that he's revealing all these behind-the-scenes talks with Chelsea and Man United, I'm not surprised at all. I mean, who wouldn't want to be in a high-profile spot like that? ๐Ÿค” But seriously, Frank's success so far is impressive, especially considering the competition in the Premier League. The atmosphere he created at Brentford definitely seems to have carried over to Tottenham, and it's no wonder they're doing well under him. 5th place isn't bad for now! I just hope he can keep the pressure on and avoid burnout ๐Ÿคž... or does that even matter in his "crazy job" ๐Ÿ˜…?

can't believe frank would spill all this tea about chelsea... seems like they took a chance on maresca too early ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘€ and frank's approach is pretty refreshing after watching brentford's underdogs story

I feel like I'm reading a different article ๐Ÿค”. I mean, who expects to read about football managers and their meetings in the same place where we usually talk about exams and assignments? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Like, what's next? A football coach taking over our school's sports team?! ๐Ÿ† But for real though, Thomas Frank seems like a really cool guy - his dedication to his job is inspiring. I wish I could be that focused on my studies! ๐Ÿ’ช I'm still trying to get my head around the Premier League and who plays where... maybe someone can explain it to me in simple terms? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

you know what's crazy? like, have you ever tried to order food delivery from these new apps that just started popping up everywhere? ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ˜‚ they're always trying to upsell me on some random side dish or drink that i don't even want! and then the estimated time of arrival is like 20 minutes earlier than it actually takes... anyway, back to frank and man united... i mean, what's with all these big club managers trying to poach each other? it's like they're all just one big happy family... or a bunch of rival siblings fighting over who gets the most attention ๐Ÿคฃ

oh man i just got back from a crazy long flight from NYC to Ldn ๐Ÿ›ซ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ด and i'm still tryna process this tho... like tottenham manager thomas frank was talkin to both chelsea and man united at the same time last year?!?!? that's wild ๐Ÿคฏ i wonder if he was just bein friendly or somethin' lol. anywayz, it sounds like frank has done a great job with tottenham so far... his approach to management is pretty interesting too - creatin an atm that fosters good teamwork and communication... maybe that's the secret to success in football ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‘

OMG u guys I just can't even right now lol so i was reading this news about Thomas Frank from Tottenham Hotspur and i'm DYING he literally had talks with both Chelsea AND Manchester United on the same day last year omg what a wild life that guy must be living i mean i know i like to overshare on my netizen life but even i wouldn't wish to deal with all those expectations and pressure every single day i can barely handle my own work stuff let alone managing a football team lol so Frank's saying he's been working 24/7 since he started at Tottenham and i'm literally living for him right now who else is with me on this?! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿˆ

I'm literally fuming over this revelation from Thomas Frank ๐Ÿคฏ! Like, what even is going on here? You're telling us that you, a respected manager like him, were in talks with TWO of the biggest clubs in England (Chelsea & Manchester United) at the same time?! It's like he was playing some sort of mastermind game behind the scenes ๐Ÿ˜. I mean, I get it, he wants to win and move forward, but doesn't that sound a bit... dishonest? ๐Ÿค”

And what really gets me is how he brushed off any involvement with Chelsea after they appointed Maresca as their new manager. Like, dude, if you were in talks, why didn't you just own up to it?! It's like he was trying to keep two secrets at the same time... crazy! ๐Ÿคฏ I need more info on this, like, stat ๐Ÿ”. This is some serious drama right here, folks! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

๐Ÿ˜ฌ The grass isn't always greener on the other side, but sometimes you just have to take a chance and make a move... especially when it comes to chasing your dreams ๐Ÿ’ช

omg did u guys know tottenham's new manager was already in talks with both chelsea & man united like a month before he even joined brentford lol ๐Ÿคฏ

anyway i just looked at the stats on how many games the top 5 teams have played this season and it's wild... ๐Ÿ”ฅ
tottenham has played 12 games, city has played 10, liverpool is on 9 & chelsea has played 11... meanwhile man united is stuck on 7 lolol ๐Ÿคฃ

i think frank's success with brentford was def underrated tho... they were consistently mid-table for like 5 years straight ๐Ÿ“Š
anyway, i'm hyped to see how frank's team does this season... fingers crossed for the spurs ๐Ÿ’ช

Ugh, this new Spurs boss is like, super obsessed with winning ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ†. I mean, I get it, he was just appointed last year but still, 24/7 job? That's crazy, fam ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. I'm not saying I don't wanna see Spurs do well, they've got some decent players, but the pressure on this guy must be intense ๐Ÿ’ฅ. And what's with all these talks he had with other big teams? It's like he's trying to prove something ๐Ÿค”. But hey, at least he's confident about his team's prospects, that's gotta count for something ๐Ÿ’ช.

I gotta say, I'm low-key surprised that Tottenham is doing alright with Frank at the helm ๐Ÿค”. Like, people were hating on him big time when he took over, saying he was a huge risk for the club and would never succeed ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ. But honestly, his tactics and team spirit seem to be working out pretty well so far ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

And let's be real, Chelsea just appointed some random guy like Maresca and they're still reeling from last season's stuff... meanwhile Frank is over there quietly building a winning culture ๐Ÿ’ช. Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna say Tottenham will take the Premier League title this year or anything ๐Ÿ™„, but it's nice to see someone who wasn't just handed the job on a silver platter succeeding ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

Also, what's up with all the hype around Sir Jim Ratcliffe? Like, he's just some random billionaire who happens to own Manchester United... doesn't mean much to me ๐Ÿ‘€. Frank is the one doing the real work here ๐Ÿ’ผ.

omg did u know i tried to learn how to make sushi at home last weekend and it was a total disaster ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, i watched all those vids online and thought i had it down pat but nope! ended up with more rice than noodles and a bunch of weird fish bits everywhere ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿš anyway back to football... thomas frank seems like a cool guy but i wonder if he's ever tried making sushi ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿค” I'm not surprised Thomas Frank had talks with both Chelsea and Man Utd at the same time... it's just football business, you know? ๐Ÿ˜Š But seriously, he seems like a humble guy who's all about winning, which is what Tottenham needs right now. ๐Ÿ† Those Brentford days must've really prepared him for this role! He's got to be exhausted, though - I mean, 24/7, 365 is no joke! โš ๏ธ Still, I'm intrigued to see how he'll shape the team's identity under him... will we see more of that Brentford flair? ๐Ÿคž

I was just thinking about how crazy it must be to have a job where you're basically living at work ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜‚ like Thomas Frank, the new Spurs boss. I mean, 24/7, 365 is some serious commitment! But honestly, I think that's what makes him so good at his job - he's always on it and pushing himself to get results. Reminds me of when I was playing soccer in high school, coach would always say "show up early, leave late" and that stuck with me. Not sure if that's true for the rest of us, but for a football manager, I guess it makes sense ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘

lol, what's next? We gonna find out who was whispering in Spurs' ear during Brentford days too ๐Ÿคฃ... anywayz, I think its cool that Frank is keepin it real and talkin about the talks he had with other big clubs. Its not every day you hear a manager admit they were "head down 24/7" working towards winnin... sounds like some serious dedication to gettin the job done ๐Ÿ’ช... but for real tho, I wonder if Maresca was actually a factor in him lettin go of Chelsea talks or was it just a coincidence? ๐Ÿค”

Blud ๐Ÿคฏ just thinkin' about it, Thomas Frank must've been playin' both sides to get that Brentford job done, lol! I mean, he was runnin' around meetin' with two big clubs on the same day ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ, it's like he was tryin' to balance multiple egos at once. But, gotta give him credit, he's got a track record of doin' things differently and gettin' good results outta it ๐Ÿ’ช. And now he's at Tottenham, lookin' sharp in the Prem league table ๐Ÿ“ˆ, I'm curious to see how long this Frank magic lasts ๐Ÿ˜!

omg u guys i just found out that thomas frank was like talkin to both man utd & chelsea at da same time last year lol what a drama ๐Ÿคฏ anyway im lovin how frank is bein real about his experience at brentford tho it makes sense why he's doin so well at tottenham with that atm he created there ๐Ÿ‘ plus 24/7 work can't be easy but i gotta respect him for just goin all in ๐Ÿ’ช we'll c what happens next at tottenham ๐Ÿคž

I wonder if we ever truly know ourselves when it comes to our motivations and desires... like Thomas Frank did by going back into talks with Chelsea and Manchester United at the same time ๐Ÿค”. Was he driven by a genuine desire to succeed, or was it just a case of "opportunity knocking" ๐Ÿ“ฃ? I mean, who among us hasn't taken on multiple roles or pursued multiple interests, only to have one of them stick? Maybe Frank's success at Tottenham is more about finding what truly resonates with him, rather than just trying to chase external validation ๐Ÿ’ญ. And that's where it gets really interesting โ€“ when we start to separate our public personas from who we are on the inside... do we find fulfillment in our work, or is it just a means to an end? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm not sure what's more surprising, the fact that Spurs are doing better than expected or Tomahs Frank was in talks with both Chelsea and Man Utd at the same time ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, you've got to feel for the guy, he's been working his socks off since taking over here. And honestly, it's no wonder he brought some of that Brentford magic to the table - the atmosphere he created there must be pretty infectious.

I love how Frank is being humble about it all though, saying it was a "crazy job" and that he's just trying to stay focused on the task at hand. You can't fault him for being realistic about what it takes to win in this league. And who knows, maybe Spurs will surprise us all again ๐Ÿ”ฎ!
