Trump set to pardon ex-Puerto Rico governor after 'political prosecution'

US President Donald Trump is reportedly set to pardon Puerto Rico's former governor Wanda Vázquez Garced, who was indicted on federal corruption charges last year over alleged campaign finance irregularities. The pardon comes after Vázquez and her co-defendants allegedly agreed to provide financial support in exchange for a favorable appointment as the head of Puerto Rico's banking commissioner's office.

The White House has stated that Vázquez's prosecution was politically motivated, with no quid pro quo deal involved. According to reports, an investigation into Vázquez began just 10 days after she endorsed Trump in 2020 and included monitoring not only her campaign but also the Trump campaign itself.

Vázquez is part of a growing list of individuals who have been pardoned by Trump since he took office earlier this year. Other notable recipients include hundreds of individuals connected to the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, as well as several high-profile politicians and business leaders.

The pardon has raised questions about Trump's clemency policies, which critics argue are biased towards his allies and loyalists. The move is also seen as part of a broader effort by Trump to consolidate power and reward those who have supported him during his presidency.

Trump's pardon plans have been met with skepticism from many in Washington, who say the President is using his executive powers to silence opponents and whitewash his own wrongdoing. As the investigation into Vázquez's case continues, some are left wondering whether Trump's pardons will ultimately serve as a form of justice or simply as a means of protecting those who have benefited from his influence.

awww poor wanda 🤗 i feel bad for her she's going through this tough time but lets hope the investigation is thorough and gets to the bottom of things... cant believe trumps getting away with this stuff again 🙄 pardon policies are super sketchy right now im all about holding ppl accountable for their actions 💯

Ugh, can you even believe this 🤯?! So Wanda Vázquez Garced is getting off scot-free because of her connections to Trump? Like, what's the point of even having an investigation if it's just gonna be swept under the rug because she's a Trump buddy? 😡 I mean, I'm not saying she didn't do anything wrong (from what I've read), but come on! If she did something shady, shouldn't she face justice like everyone else? 🤷‍♀️

And now we're supposed to just accept that this is all part of some master plan by Trump to consolidate power and reward his loyalists? Like, no thanks 🙅‍♂️. This guy's been making one scandal after another and still somehow manages to wriggle his way out of it. I swear, he's like a big ol' bad guy with a silver spoon up his nose 😂.

And don't even get me started on the Capitol attack people getting pardoned 🤯. Like, what's next? Are we gonna start giving pardons to insurrectionists and white supremacists too? 🚫 The whole thing just reeks of corruption and abuse of power 🤢.

🤔 This is getting too deep for me... I mean, Wanda Vázquez Garced gets a pardon just 10 days after endorsing Trump in 2020? That's some suspicious timing if you ask me 🕰️. What if there was more to it than just a coincidence? Maybe the investigation was already leaning towards Trump, and this pardon is just a way to cover their tracks 🚫. And let's not forget about the January 6th Capitol attack pardons... that's like giving a free pass to a bunch of troublemakers who tried to disrupt democracy 😒. It's like Trump is trying to protect his own friends and family instead of serving justice 💼. I'm not saying it's definitely conspiracy, but you can't just brush this stuff off as coincidence or politics 🤷‍♂️. Something fishy is going on here... 👀

Ugh, this pardon thingy is just giving me anxiety 🤯... Like, come on, Wanda Vázquez Garced was accused of some serious stuff and now Trump's just gonna wipe her slate clean? It's not fair to the people of Puerto Rico who are still reeling from all the corruption and mismanagement that happened under her watch. And can we talk about how convenient it is that she endorsed Trump in 2020, like, right before the investigation started? 🤔 It just seems so... shady. I'm also super worried about what this says about Trump's clemency policies, if you know what I mean. Is he really gonna start pardoning everyone who's ever done something wrong and just happens to be a friend or supporter of his? It doesn't seem right to me 🙅‍♀️.

Ugh, another one bites the dust 😒... like Trump thought he was above the law just because he had a magic wand 🧙‍♂️. Newsflash, Donnie: pardoning Vázquez is basically saying "I've got the power and you're not as bad as I thought". Meanwhile, people are still trying to make sense of how his whole pardon policy is even designed - like it's some sort of sick game where he's giving away favors to whoever plays nice with him 🎲. Can't wait to see if any real accountability comes out of this, or just more cover-ups 🚫.
