US spy satellite agency declassifies high-flying Cold War listening post

I think its pretty cool that the US is finally being transparent about their spy satellite program from back in the day. Like, Jumpseat was a major player in the cold war and we're now getting the deets on what they were actually listening to ...and it sounds like they were picking up some serious intel on Soviet military comms. I mean, its wild to think about all the convo between soviet pilots and ground personnel being intercepted by these satellites

I'm not really surprised that we're seeing more declassifications of old spy programs, tbh. Its only fair that we get to know what our governments are up to in the past. Plus, its cool to see the NRO being all open and stuff about it

I guess what Im saying is, Jumpseat might not be the most glamorous program, but its an important part of history and now we can finally learn more about it ...and maybe get a new perspective on how our governments work

I'm not surprised that declassified info on old spy satellites is comin' out nowdays. It's like they say, transparency is key, right? Now we know how much these US spy satellites were doin' back in the Cold War days. Interceptin' all sorts of signals from the Soviets, like their radar and missile tests. That's some serious snooping! What's even more interestin' is that this program was a precursor to all those fancy new spy satellite programs they got later on. It just goes to show how far we've come in tech and stuff. But it also makes me wonder, what else are they hidin'?

I'm low-key impressed that the NRO finally declassified this old listening post . I mean, it's crazy to think about how much the world has changed since Jumpseat was launched back in 1971 . Remember when we used to be so paranoid about the Soviet Union? It's like a different era altogether. The fact that they could intercept radio signals and even voice messages between Soviet personnel is just wild . I wonder what kind of intel they actually gathered from all those years ago... probably some pretty interesting stuff . Anyway, it's cool to see the US government being more transparent about its past spy missions .

Ugh, I'm so done with these old spy satellite programs being declassified ... like what's the point now? We already know how they worked and all the juicy intel is out there. And another thing, 13-foot antenna? That's just weird ... who needs that kind of overhead to intercept radio signals? The whole Jumpseat program seems like a huge overkill . And don't even get me started on the name - "Jumpseat"? More like " spy satellite with a bad name" . just got my hands on some juicy info from a friend who works at the NRO... apparently they're dropping more declassified intel like hotcakes, and I'm low-key hyped about it ! The fact that Jumpseat was able to intercept those sick Soviet comms signals is mind-blowing. Can you imagine being up there in space, tuning into all sorts of top-secret convo's? And the antenna size was actually pretty small, just 13 feet – I always thought it'd be way bigger, but I guess they didn't need as much to get the job done . This declassification thing is definitely giving me some serious nostalgia vibes, like we're finally getting our hands on some real-life spy thriller intel .
