I'm kinda disappointed in this musical adaptation of Peter Pan
. I mean, I know it's trying to be all feminist and modern, but it feels like they've just tacked on some shallow ideas instead of really exploring the characters. I loved the visual effects - that Jolly Roger was lit
- but the music just felt so generic and forgettable. And don't even get me started on Peter's "teenage angst"
... I mean, I know he's supposed to be a boy who refuses to grow up, but this portrayal feels like they're just relying on old cliches instead of giving him some real depth. It's a shame because the story has so much potential - I was expecting something really special, but it ended up feeling like a sugar rush that didn't last
.
