Sean Mannion's Coaching Roots Revealed
Philadelphia Eagles new Offensive Coordinator Sean Mannion's coaching influences are rooted in some of the most successful NFL offenses, and it all started during his time as a backup quarterback in the league.
Mannion's journey began under Rob Boras, who was the Rams' offensive coordinator from 2015-2016. At that time, the offense was known for its vertical pass game, which emphasized three-receiver formations and aimed to stress defenses over the top. Later on, Mannion worked under Sean McVay in Los Angeles, who was heavily influenced by Mike Shanahan. The Vikings offense under Kubiak's guidance featured two-tight end sets and a fullback, which became staples of Shanahan's playbook.
After working with Kubiak, Mannion moved on to the Seattle Seahawks under Shane Waldron. While there, he saw firsthand how McVay blended his run-heavy approach with the Seahawks' tempo-based offense. However, Waldron's offense was largely based on the 12-personnel identity and used a fullback, which led to some inconsistencies.
Mannion then returned to the Vikings for a third time before joining the Seattle Seahawks again under Pete Carroll and Shane Waldron. He learned from his father, Klint Kubiak, who also worked in Minnesota. Mannion spent some time on the practice squad but eventually earned a promotion as QBs coach and later joined the Seahawks' staff.

I'm literally hyped for Sean Mannion to take over as OC for the Eagles! 
He's been through the trenches (pun intended) and learned from some of the most successful coaches in the league, including McVay and Kubiak. His philosophy is all about run-heavy zone-based offenses with a strong emphasis on play-action passes... sounds like my kind of football 
I'm excited to see how he'll adapt it to the Eagles' roster and style. Can't wait for some fireworks in Philly!

i feel like shane Waldron might have been his biggest letdown tho the seahawks offense wasnt as solid under him lol guess thats why sean didnt wanna go back

i mean, its clear that his time with matt lafleur at the packers will be a big factor in shaping the eagles offense but i wonder if he'll try to put his own spin on things 
maybe bring some consistency after working under so many different coaches and philosophies?

my kid has been watching nfl games with me since they were 5 and it's amazing to see how the strategies have evolved over the years...i just wish we had more emphasis on teaching kids the importance of good sportsmanship and teamwork outside of football
