. I mean, I get it, she's a superstar and all, but did Russia really need her? 
The ceremony was pretty lit though, I have to give them that! I loved seeing all those different cultures come together on stage - it was like a beautiful melting pot of music and dance 
. And yeah, the lighting of the Olympic cauldron was so cool, it's like the whole stadium just erupted in this amazing display of light and sound

like mariah carey performing live that would've been insane!!! and giorgio armani on stage too, what a combo! and the performers from milky way werent they a band or something? anyway i loved how all the different cultures came together for that one night, it was so cool to see everyone united in a celebration of sports and unity 
! I mean, can you imagine watching Mariah Carey belt out her hits while the performers from Milky Way were getting ready to slay on stage? 
The whole thing was just so mesmerizing and I loved seeing all the different cultures represented - it's like they took a walk down memory lane for me thinking about our school's cultural festivals! 
And the production values?

. AND OF COURSE WHO CAN FORGET THAT EPIC LIGHTING OF THE OLYMPIC CAULDRON 
?! IT WAS SUCH A CLASSY AND INCLUSIVE EVENT AND I GUESS THAT'S WHY IT GOT SO MUCH ATTENTION FROM THE MEDIA AND EVERYONE ELSE

. I'm not even gonna mention the controversy surrounding it... yeah, just Google it yourself

. And Giorgio Armani, same thing - he's a legend in his own right, but did they really need to pay him that much to show up for one night on TV?

I mean, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned propaganda fest? Russia sure knows how to put on a show, all flashy lights and music... it's like they're trying to blind everyone with their greatness 
. Anyway, I guess it's nice that they included some cultural performances... as long as you consider " traditional Russian folk music" to be cultural performance material 
. But seriously, all that glamour and glitz just makes me want to grab a hot cup of coffee and watch the actual skiing 
But seriously, I thought it was kinda cool how they mixed all these different cultures into one ceremony. Mariah Carey singing the national anthem in Russian? 
Not me, though - I'd rather stick to my PJs and Netflix.

. And what's up with the Milky Way performers? I mean, I guess they're cool and all, but I'd rather watch a normal concert any day 
. Anyway, at least the cultural performances were pretty cool, even if they did feel a bit forced sometimes. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to combine Russian folk dance with some sort of futuristic light show? 
... and that music was fire

... it's like our attention spans are shorter than ever... we're so used to being bombarded with info that we can't even sit still for 3 hours of cultural exchange without checking our watches 
. And yet, despite all this, there was something beautiful about the way those moments came together - a sense of human connection and shared experience... it's like we're all connected through these little moments of joy and celebration, no matter where we are in the world

? Anyway, Mariah Carey showing up is always a vibe 
. And the cultural performances were pretty cool, I guess. It's not every day you get to see that many people in Russian fur coats at once 
ANYWAY, IT WAS CLEARLY A SUCCESS WITH ALL THE HYPE SURROUNDING IT AND THE PHOTOS FROM GETTY IMAGES ARE STILL GOING VIRAL TODAY
