The study’s findings are striking: in every season examined, the flu shot clearly worked as intended. For every 100 children vaccinated due to their birthday timing, there were between 9 and 14 fewer diagnosed cases of influenza.

The solution to our concerns about the efficacy of established treatments is not to wait for expensive and time-consuming clinical trials. Instead, we should be harnessing the vast amounts of data already generated by the healthcare system – often left idle and unexamined – to provide more immediate answers.

This approach is not only more cost-effective but also faster, allowing us to address pressing questions in medicine and public health with greater urgency.
