I'm surprised they got so many free agents this offseason
. I mean, 20 players is already a lot, but when you consider the big names that left last year, it's almost like they're trying to rebuild from scratch
. Tight end and left tackle are definitely areas that need attention, and I think Dallas Goedert is still one of their top options at tight end
.
But what really caught my eye is Fred Johnson, the left tackle. He didn't get much playing time last season, but he showed flashes of brilliance when he was on the field
. And Brett Toth, who played some center and LG snaps, could be a solid backup for them too
.
On defense, I'm surprised they're not re-signing Jaelan Phillips and Nakobe Dean ASAP
. Those two were lights out last season, and it's not like they have any other options at those positions
. And what happened to Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari? They came in with so much hype, but couldn't make an impact
.
Oh, and I just realized that Grant Calcaterra is going to be a blocking TE2 this offseason
. Like, why did they even draft him as a tight end if they knew he wasn't good enough for the role?
