Slipknot Dismiss Suit Against Slipknot.com

Slipknot Dismisses Lawsuit Against Unauthorized Merchandise Site, Leaves Door Open to Future Action

In a surprise move, the members of Slipknot, known for their aggressive sound and intense live performances, have voluntarily dismissed a lawsuit they filed against the owner of Slipknot.com, a website not affiliated with the band that was accused of selling bootleg merchandise.

The band had claimed that the domain owner, who remains anonymous, had engaged in "cybersquatting" by allowing unauthorized parties to sell cheap promo products and costume masks bearing the group's logo. However, in a stunning development, lawyers for Slipknot have now dismissed the lawsuit without prejudice, leaving the door open for future action.

The move has been met with confusion, as the band had filed the original suit citing the Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act and claimed that fans would be misled into purchasing unauthorized merchandise on the website. However, it appears that the band's lawyers may have come to realize that pursuing this case was not in their best interests.

The domain owner, Slipknot Online Services, Ltd., had registered the site in 2001 and had been unaware of the lawsuit until recently. Lawyers for the company claimed that they had waited too long to sue, given the fact that the band released its first record in 1999.

As a result of the dismissal, the website Slipknot.com remains functional but with no content on it, bearing a message stating "No valid delivery channels available for this domain. Copyright 2025." Meanwhile, the band's official website, Slipknot1.com, is still active but has no current tour dates planned.

It is unclear what sparked the sudden change of heart by the band or their lawyers, but one thing is clear: the battle over Slipknot merchandise rights continues to unfold.

omg 🀯 i'm lowkey disappointed that slipknot dropped this lawsuit... i mean, they did it out of the blue, and now who knows when we'll see some legit merch on the site πŸ˜‚. but at the same time, kudos to them for being chill about it πŸ™. maybe it's a sign that they just want to focus on making music rather than stressing about copyright issues 🎸. either way, i'm keeping an eye out for any future updates... or maybe i'll just stick to buying merch from their official site πŸ›οΈ.

omg I cant believe slipknot just dropped that lawsuit lol i was thinking they would win it for sure but now its like theyre giving up πŸ˜‚ what if the domain owner didnt even know about the lawsuit? thats so sad for them πŸ€• anyway, im curious whats going on with the band's tour dates when is the next one πŸ’₯ I wish theyd just release a new album or something instead of all this drama 🎸

I'm like "what's good with that?" πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I mean, the band was all bent outta shape about these unauthorized merch sites, and now they're just chillin' while fans are still getting duped into buying fake stuff? It doesn't add up, you know? Maybe their lawyers just figured it wasn't worth the hassle or something? But honestly, who's to say this is the end of the road for Slipknot on merch? They could've taken a harder stance and really crushed those fake sellers... but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next πŸ€”

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ oh man this is crazy they filed a lawsuit against some random dude selling merch on an unaffiliated site and now they just dropped it like a hot potato i mean what's up with that? at least the website still says "no valid delivery channels available" lol maybe they're not trying to scam fans after all πŸ€” but seriously who gets sued for selling knockoff merch online anyway? seems kinda harsh tbh

OMG I'm totally confused about this πŸ˜‚πŸ€”... like, if Slipknot's lawyers thought they were gonna win that case and make some cash from all those bootleg sites selling merch without permission... why just give up now?! πŸ€‘ It seems like a pretty big deal for them to drop the lawsuit out of nowhere!

I can see how it might be hard to sue someone who registered the site way back in 2001, but I would've thought they'd at least wanted to try and get some money from all those fans buying fake merch πŸ€‘... now that door is closed forever! The website's just sitting there with this "no valid delivery channels available" message... it's kinda sad that no one can even get the official merch anymore πŸ€•

I'm kinda weirdly relieved about this lawsuit thingy πŸ€”. I mean, think about it - if they'd won, the site would be gone and no one could buy those sick promo masks anymore πŸ˜…. It's like a slippery slope (pun intended). What if the site owner had just been trying to make some extra cash on the side? Does that really warrant a lawsuit? I guess what's interesting is that Slipknot's lawyers seem to have had second thoughts, so maybe we'll see more of this kind of thing in the future πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. It's all about perspective, right?

So I'm thinking about this lawsuit thingy... πŸ€” and I just don't get why Slipknot decided to drop it without a fight. I mean, they were like "hey we're gonna sue you for selling merch with our logo" but then their lawyers are all like "nah let's just chill". It doesn't make sense to me.

And what really gets my goat is that the band was like super serious about stopping people from buying fake merch, but now it seems like they're just gonna let it happen and maybe even get some cash out of it. I'm not saying they're bad guys or anything, but come on... you can't just drop a lawsuit like that without thinking it through.

I guess the domain owner was right to say they waited too long to sue because by 2001 when they registered the site, the band had already been around for a while and didn't really seem like a big deal. But still... Slipknot is all about being intense and stuff, and I don't think that's gonna change just because their lawyers decided to take it easy.

Anyway, this whole thing is kinda confusing and I'm not sure what's gonna happen next. Maybe the band will come back around and sue again or something. But for now, it looks like Slipknot.com is still up and running... or whatever.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this πŸ˜•. I mean, back in my day, we used to think that buying bootleg merch was a no-go, and now it seems like even the bands themselves are kinda cool with it? I guess times have changed, and online marketplaces have gotten way more complicated. It's weird how these things play out – one minute you're all bent outta shape about someone selling fake merch, and the next, you're just shrugging and saying "meh". I'm not sure what to make of it, but I guess that's just life in the digital age 🀯. The website still looks all empty and boring now though – where's the merch? πŸ˜‚

OMG u guys!!! 🀯 I cant believe slipknot just dropped that lawsuit against the merch site they were suing... idk what's going on with them rn... they said it was all about cybersquatting but now its like they're just backing down πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ... i feel bad for their fans who got taken advantage of by those cheap promo products πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ... i mean, i love slipknot as much as the next person but come on guys, stand up for yourselves! πŸ’ͺ but idk what the future holds now that theyre just leaving it all open 😏... stay tuned, this story is far from over πŸ‘€

omg i'm lowkey shocked by this move 🀯, i mean slipknot's been pretty strict about their merch and copyright for ages, so it doesn't make sense why they'd just drop the lawsuit like that πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. i'm curious what changed, tho - was there some kinda settlement or did the band just decide it wasn't worth it anymore? πŸ€” idk, but now the website's basically a ghost site with just a copyright message staring you down πŸ˜‚. anyway, it's good to know that the door's still open for future action, because if anyone's going to get burned by slipknot merch, it might as well be these other sites πŸ€‘πŸ‘Š.

πŸ˜• So I'm kinda confused about this whole situation... like, if they didn't really want people buying fake merch on that site, why would they just dismiss the lawsuit? It seems like a pretty straightforward case of protecting their brand and fans from getting ripped off.

I mean, I get it, maybe their lawyers realized it was gonna be a super long and costly battle... but still, wouldn't you wanna at least try to shut down that website for good? Now it's just sitting there with a lame message on it. It's like they're just letting the site collect dust.

It's all pretty confusing, tbh πŸ€”... I feel like the fans are the ones who get hurt in this situation. They gotta deal with fake merch and not knowing what's legit or not... anyway πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Ugh, can you believe this? They sue someone for selling merch on a legit website, and then they just drop it like that πŸ˜’. I mean, come on, if they're really concerned about fans being misled, why not just do something about the real problem - online counterfeiters who are scamming people out of their cash? πŸ€‘ It's just more money for the lawyers, you know? πŸ’Έ And what's with the "no valid delivery channels available" message? Just leaving it like that? That's gonna be a hot mess for fans trying to buy merch... 😑

idk why they're doin this tho πŸ€”. i mean, it's not like they didn't have a good case against them. but i guess sometimes you just gotta let things go, right? πŸ™ maybe they realized that pursuin the lawsuit was gonna be too costly or somethin 😐. and now they're just leavin it open for future action... like what's the point of even tryin then? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ i'm still confused tho πŸ€”. they could've at least made an example outta them, you know? but noooo, they're just lettin 'em slide πŸ™„.
